Kinda weird to offer a model without an optical drive. You can buy an optical drive for $20 bucks these days, so I imagine they cost under $5 to produce. Why create a different model to save $5? Actually, creating more than one physical model will probably cost them more than $5 per unit in operational costs.

I won't be buying a next-gen console anytime soon. In fact, I just gave away my PS4 because I didn't play it for 6 months, and I wanted someone to get use out of it.

I don't really get it. Am I supposed to know that kid? I think my favorite so far has been the black modem with two piece of paper taped to each side.

I don't think the person is important. It's more that it looks like something the Grandmaster would wear.

Your only looking at what Sony will save buy removing the drive but not looking at what they will gain. If you buy the digital edition you are 100% locked into purchasing everything through Sony. That means more money for them. That incentives Sony to drop the price of the digital edition even lower cause they can make it up with just your purchasing a game or two.

I kind of want to go all digital. I like the idea of it, I've gone almost entirely digital on PS4. The only thing I don't like is that I tend to buy games once they've dropped in price and that seems to happen much quicker on physical copies from Amazon than it does buying games on the PS store.

Wait, so the controller doesn't have paddles on the back? I thought that was coming for sure after they revealed that paddle attachment for the PS4 controller.

My main thing is I used to use gamestop to try out games on disc and then just buy the digital version if I liked it. You get to buy used games and return them in 7 days no questions asked. If I go all digital that goes out the window. My Ps4 pro disc player doesn't work anymore though so I haven't done that in over a year now. Very few games I've bought and have regretted it anyways. Maybe 5-6 over the 7 years of having my ps4.

Pretty sure GameStop won’t be around that long into the new systems life span anyways . I use to be against all digital but after owning a pc I literally get mad if I have to change the disk in my PS4 ... even on my switch I regret not buying all games digital now

Plus my PS4 sounds like a jet taking off when I have to run a disk in it

What’s there to complain about? It’s just a small box. Nothing interesting about it at all.

Gimme that router all day.

I think a guy on Angry Joe's review put it perfectly. The PS5 looks better but wont look good in my entertainment system. Everything is black. The Xbox just looks boring though he even said it looks like a dev kit you would send to devs just a plain black box but at least it goes with his entertainment system and will just disappear in there.

Literally the exact same thing happened to me. I went physical at first. Then when I went to PC it changed my mindset and I started going all digital on PS4. Sold everything physical and bought it all back digital during sales. It was stuff I had already beat but wanted to have it available just in case.

On my switch I actually didn't care since I had the cartridge right there in my case (I almost never played docked). I went both digital and physical and mainly depended on if I wanted to go the store or not and how quickly I wanted to play.

it may actually be bigger then the series x

Don't care how it looks. Hope they have a nice game lineup at launch cause nothing I saw yesterday got me excited yet. I've never played the Spiderman game though so if I did maybe that would have done something for me.

Maybe a stupid question, but can you turn it sideways? My fiance will be pissed if I have to have a big white box with an hdmi cable out of it to the side of the tv stand

I thought Ratchet & Clank looked awesome. Demon Souls is a huge tease for Xbox and PC Souls fans.. :( Nothing really shown at the event looked like we are heading into a new generation though. Showing GTA on PS4 and a bunch of CGI trailers doesn't do much, not sure what they were thinking.

The stream quality at 30fps was awful.

Maybe to Xbox souls fans, with Sony releasing PS exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, I’m optimistic they will eventually release Demons Souls (PS5) on PC.

hopefully there'll be all black or all white options plus a nice neat way to wall mount it

won't bother buying until year 2 most likely anyway so maybe the ps5 slim will be better looking o_O
