venting/troubleshooting advice...

huge (quick) thunderstorm here. one huge boom shook my entire house and shut off my ps4 while i was playing bloodborne with a friend (we're running thru all the souls games before ds3). no other section of my house lost power, and this was just a blink etc. an hour later of troubleshooting: my main big tv, which has 3 hdmi ports... now port #1 is dead. xbox one and tv(cable) work in both 2 and 3, neither work in #1.
conclusion #1: hdmi port #1 on my tv is fried and broken?

second conclusion: my ps4 hdmi port is broken. tried the ps4 in #2 and #3 hdmi ports of my main tv (which both already confirmed work), nothing. the PS4 turns on etc, but it never recognizes it on the tv (like it says try another input, etc). brought to another tv. confirmed both ports on that tv work just fine. ps4 doesn't work on either.
conclusion #2: my ps4 is broken (specifically the HDMI port on it)

am i missing anything? is there anything else i should be trying? or is it time to send my ps4 in for repairs? and i guess i'm shit out of luck on my main TV, port is dead?

thanks in advance

Unfortunately it sounds like the ports walked the green mile and rode the lightning.

To be clear you tried the ps4 with different hdmi cables or just ports?

Well that sucks. Have you inspected the hdmi pins just to see if maybe one got bent or some bs? Have you tried safe mode to see if you can get it to reset and work. You'll have to look up the options so you don't delete your data but there are a couple things you can try that won't delete your save data and might work.

If not I guess you have to send it in.

they told me it's $150 and 24 business days for repairs.. might as well just buy a new one :*(

i guess i would be dumb not to take a closer look (i'm not good w/hardware stuff) if i'm gonna buy a new one, anyway...

thanks again

A surge protector can only take so much punishment before it quits working. Pick up something like this, it won't allow you to power on the device when it'll no longer protect your device
Amazon product ASIN B0000AI0N2

If it's a decent one there should be a protected light on there, google and see if you're still protected or not. A surge protector won't stop a nasty direct strike but it gives your appliances a lot better chance of survival.

Ah this new forum software tries to show the product on amazon in a window like tweets
just google this:
Tripp Lite 10 Outlet Surge Protector Power Strip Tel/Modem 8ft Cord 2395 Joules (TLP1008TEL)

Man I feel for you, over here in the UK power surges/spikes are very rare. Infact when have power issues, it's just an outage, our local grid is shutdown. So far in the past 6 months, it's happened about 4 times, with the last one happening because of a huge fire at a metal recycling plant.

I looked into getting a UPS for my PC but everyone just told me, this is Britain, don't bother lol

Next time invest in a clean power bar. They are around $200 Retail for a decent one. If you know someone at an electronics store that can get one for cost that is the way to go as these are marked up like 300%. The clean power bar handles any spikes and evens out the power if you are in an area that gets a lot of spikes.
