So one of my closest friends recently just got a PS4 and he was asking me for my PlayStation account login information so that he can download the games from my library onto his system. I wasn’t aware that this was a thing.

I’ve read a little bit about the process and how it’s supposed to work and had a few questions:

1. Is this legit?
2. Are there any risks to me?
3. Can we play one of my games online together? For example, if I let him download Bloodborne from my account onto his system can we play simultaneously and with each other?

1. It is legit. He can basically download your account on to his system and play whatever digital games you own.
2. If you get into an argument with him he could change the password and lock you out your account. So unless your lifelong buddies it might not be worth the risk.
3. You can't play simultaneously because only one of you can log into your account. You can create a party and then choose the gameshare option which will allow him to play your games. That's probably safer than giving him access to your account

What’s gameshare and how is that different? Would that allow us to play Bloodborne together?

Gameshare just allows whoever is in your party to take control of whatever game your playing. You can't play together. It's basically a safer, quicker option than account sharing. BB is cheap as shit now anyway so your friend shouldn't have much trouble getting a copy.

I believe you can play at the same time one of you needs to create another dummy account and as long as the main account is the primary account you will be able to play. My friend has 2 ps4's and he buy 1 digital game and dl's it to both his ps4's so he and his son can play at the same time.

Yes you can, however, either you or your friend could play the game at one time. Its annoying since you have to activate the PS4 each time you want to share a game.

You cannot simultaneously play a game at the same time, if you can, its only for a few minutes before it locks the game & this may get your account banned. If you play one at a time, there is a lesser chance of being banned.

I’m not saying either of you are wrong, but everything I’ve googled about this seems to say that you’re allowed to have two people play simultaneously but no more than that. Whether you can or can’t is the most critical fact for me, because if you can’t then I’ll just tell my friend no, because I’d only allow him access to my library of games so that we could play together. If we can’t I’m not about to just let him have unfettered access to my entire library of games that I paid for when he makes more money than me (or so he claims).

What he's done is download his account onto both PS4's.

Game sharing through party chat is fine. Have a look at the party menu on your PS4 and you'll see the option. You can't both play a game at the same time if the other person doesn't own the game. All your doing in share play is letting the player connect to your system and giving them control of the game

I thought this type of thing would make Sony mad and make you pay dearly for fucking with them.

You were allowed to share i believe up to 4 units before its now down to two, you can play at the same time, basically you setup acct A dl game in ps4 1 and ps4 2, may acct A primary for both units, then on the 2nd unit make an acct b you will still be able to play the ganes on acct B. I do this on my ps4 also i have a region 1 acct Us ps store with ps plus and have a r3 asia ps4 acct and im able to play online on my ps4 r3 acct because the ps plus shares on both accts.

You cannot, and I repeat, cannot play the same game at the same time when on different accounts. on separate PS4s

For example, say your account has MGSV, and your friend wants to play it on his account, he'd need to put your details on his PS4 by creating a new profile, login, and download the game. He then needs to activate the PS4 as the primary PS4 on your account (his ps4). The he can play, you cant play the game. For you to play it, you'd need to reactivate the PS4 as your primary PS4, then he cant play it.

But my understanding is that I can play it by just leaving his PlayStation as the “primary” and having mine as the “secondary”.

Thats on the same playstation, thats wnot what TS wants. Your other comment is also wrong, that advice would work if someone had 2 PS4s. You can activate 2 PS4s and play games on there with the same account.

Okay then why not try it out, then report back. You got the advice, execute or not. Its up to you.

As i said my friend has 2 ps4s he downloads digital games from the same acct on both ps4s and play battlefield with his son at the same time. But when he plays he uses a secondary acct on the other ps4

Worm's our boy so let's make sure we give him clear, up-to-date, and licit advice here.

Well I guess I’ll give it a go then. I really don’t want to but we’ve been friends for over 20 years and he was groomsman at my wedding. I just need to take a few precautions, like making sure I unlink my MasterCard from my PlayStation account. I don’t want him potentially logging into my account on his system and buying something without my permission. I doubt he’d do that but you can’t be too careful with your chedda.
