When you guys make your protein shakes, how many servings do you usually use?
I use one. But im not a bodybuilder extrodinare, I just use them for energy and restoring fatigued muscles.
I use one around three to four times a day.
I have one after workout and then another one before sleep at night. So 2 a day
Forgive my ignorance on these subjects, but what's the purpose of drinking it before you go to sleep?
i have it 2x a day usually.
In my opinion, a lot of people do it way over with protein these days.
Just too much.
obviously while one is sleeping, the body is in a state of fasting. During this time, I think the body should be given the necessary materials for muscle building and recovery. I drink a casein protein because it is a slower digesting protein. This will allow the constant delivery of amino acids and peptides over the long period of time during sleep.
that is your opinion, but i think 1.5 x your body weight is a good figure for grams of protein. So if your protein is less than that than you arent over doing it.
I adjust my protein intake depending on what I eat on that day, I pick up the slack in protein powder.

When I spoke to a doctor, he recommended 1g/pound.
that is for a active normal adult, not a combat athlete
In the morning I make a blender full of protien shake with other added ingredients and just drink it throughout the day with my meals and while resting and everything. + water of course too
His opinion is backed by science.
1.5g per pound of bodyweight is not. I have yet to see a study referenced that showed uniquely positive results with anywhere near that amount.
How do you know that? His doctor may have asked if he was involved in intense strength training and/or aerobic conditioning. They usually do.

1g per pound of muscle is a decent figure for a normal active adult, not 1g per of body weight, that is over doing it

If you talk to anybody builder that is getting ready for competition he will tell you that he consumes about 800grams per day.
Yup probably, my post says for a normal active adult.
