The cool thing to do is the only reason now? C'mon there are legitimate reasons to bag on Dana beyond it being "trendy". And you're a mark if you think he kept shows on during the pandemic for the good of fight fans lol. He kept shows running for his bottom line because UFC need to meet their quota of content for ESPN.. funny how Dana who was firm about his stance on the pandemic still keeps (low cost) shows running on the Apex... hmmm I wonder why???


Happy for Francis for 2 reasons:
1. It takes a fucking man to stand for what he believes while lesser men berate you for not selling out like a bitch.
2. He's playing with house money at this point. Even if he gets starched (which I expect) he will have made so much coming from Cameroon that he will have transformed his family lives for generations.

Even if you love the UFC you got to admit that Francis is a badass for betting all in. <mma4>

Yes and no, it depends on the level of the fighter, big names usually co-promote, they still sign with a promoter like DAZN or PBC, yet still get to run things unlike in MMA where the Organization runs the whole thing, Mcgregor vs Mayweather was co-promoted by Zuffa, Showtime and Mayweather Promotions, its not the big name fighter paying the other guy, but pretty close, in this case Fury will get Ngannou paid, boxers have way more control than what MMA guys will ever have.
 
That’s cool. I’m happy for Francis getting a payday and all, but mixed fights don’t interest me and I don’t see the appeal of this fight.

so he didn't lose your respect when he trashed all his fighters with lies ("he doesn't wanna fight", "GSP is in the hospital right now"), prevented them from getting sponsorship money, killed any initiative for a union, didn't even match a fraction of inflation in pay raise, makes them sign contracts where they can't get out but he can cut them anytime, has a literal monopoly lawsuit going on and such.

It’s not the same with conman. He made generational wealth excluding his deals outside mma just thru ufc. He can go to any org right now and make it more popular than Francis ever could but he won’t cuz it would be a big risk for him and would probably make same amount of money but he would get percentage of the company without a doubt and crazy exec positions. But even conor wouldn’t take that risk but he never needed too. With that said, as much as conor has made in the ufc he probably got robbed just as much as he made if we going by rev split.

Speak for yourselves. The way UFC dicks around its fighters there's no guarantee you'd ever see the match-ups you want even if Francis had stayed. I'm glad to see Francis succeed, showing a path for fighters that doesn't include the UFC, because it might mean future greats wind up in a promotion that treats its fighters better and makes matches based on merit and not internet clicks.

Lol he had to give a big part of his purse from the bout against Mayweather to the UFC. Plus Francis had less privilege and had the UFC and the fans against him (we wonder why :rolleyes:).

Nobody except him was believing in what he wanted to do. Now he's about to make it. Congrats to him.
 
What’s disgustingly vindictive but plausible is UFC paying McGregor (a UFC fighter that was permitted to box) an obscene amount of money, (more money than Ngannou or even Jones asked for), to fight on the same night as Ngannou-Fury, in a last ditch effort to sabotage the Francis success story.

I agree, these boxing v mma fights make zero sense and no one is really asking for them.. and this robs us of actual proper fights between 2 elites..
