Prodigy lead singer Keith Flint dead at 49

E pills definitely deplete serotonin and probably didn’t help his cause from back in the day. Puts holes in your brain

Yeah sure does ..

I wonder how he did it?
Its on record him saying front of a bus .. But that might be from back in the day ..

Firestarter was my jam as a kid but this hella sucks though, r.i.p.

Really ruined my day.

The prodigy got me into electronic AND hard rock/metal and later punk. It was the first band i felt connected to. The dancing was fun, the sounds were clear and the bass lines were sick for the time. I liked the theatrics, the darker sound and images in many songs.

I thought Flint was the coolest guy rocking a stage. I know he didnt make the music and he never said he did. That was howlett mostly. But Fat Of The Land he killed the vocals and even in the next single Babys Got A Temper (from the unreleased album) was sick.

I was really into the early techno/rave albums and into fat of the land, always outnumbered never outgunned...but kinda fell off at the invaders album. Some good songs but wasnt really feeling it. However I always kinda checked back around at what they were doing and listened to what they were making out of curiosity.

Even though I write and play music and basically know he was a hype guy/dancer, he was the face of my first hard band that lead me to going to about 50 all night raves in my youth. I still snowboard and jog to his voice and always gets me ready to fucking go.

Sucks to read hes been going through a divorce and obvious depression. Sounded like he was being forced to sell his dream house.

Well, RIP Keith Flint. Dont know why this one hurts so much but it does.

Fuck me man.

It takes a special kind of loser to go into a thread like this and be shitty.

Just stay away, its not hard.

this was gutting to hear.

the dude was a legend and a music god.

ive got so many memories to prodigy songs.

Didn't know that was prodigy.

Maybe makes sense, he loved riding.

Already posted about him in the Abbey Road but this thread has more traction.

RIP. Keith had a huge influence on me growing up. Shy awkward guy that can turn it up to 12 and be a madman on stage right there with MC Maxim.

Firestarter and Breathe were anthems for me. The Prodigy along with Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim and Chemical Brothers basically got me into tronic music.

Suicide and only 49.

Hope you are dancing it up in heaven bro.

I actually became more of a fan of their older music once the honeymoon period of Fat of the Land wore off and I wemt through their discography. Jilted and Experience were gems.

Sad news. I remember the incredible anticipation for Fat of the land. Not sure of the US but Prodigy were the biggest group in Australia and Europe when that album came out (maybe the biggest in the world at that time). I was lucky enough to see them tour that album and it was amazing. I loved 'Breathe' and 'Diesel power'. 'Out of space' was and is widely regarded as one of the best dance songs of all time and I also loved 'No good start the dance'. I have never been a 'jungle' fan but their earlier stuff was very listenable.

Diesel Power exposed me to the brilliance of Kool Keith. Motherfucking Dr. Octagon.

Giving this a read from todays news. He looked so different young!

That should seriously be the cover of their next album. Haha awesome.

My mom saw the Firestarter video with me back in the 90s on MuchMusic and said something that will stick with me to the end. She said "if you slicked back his hair, gave him some glasses and a suit he would look like a banker."

Of course at the time I thought she was being a lame ass. But its really true.

Still listen to Fat Of The Land sometimes. A few meets back I was going for a big squat and Smack My Bitch up was playing in my headphones prior to it. That opening beat still gets me hyped.

To be fair, he could have just said Prodigy is dead and I'd have known what he meant.
This is Prodigy, you're referring to the british band "The Prodigy" which would still confuse people because Liam Howlett is "The Prodigy" not Maxim, Keith Flint or that dancing homo they had back in the day.

He definitely made a mark. Especially in soundtracks. Represented a darker time in music. But sometimes that darkness can invade your psyche. It’s important as listeners to be eclectic so you give your brain different vibrations, and balance.

its an interesting age to commit suicide at. i wonder why he chose to do it at 49. why not earlier or later? why then?

It’s just not as cool or edgy in your 50’s.
