i accumulated so much heinous toe violence in the early part of my life that they are quite unfeeling now, i can smack em off stuff now and its relatively ok. the bottoms of my feet are really sensitive though, walking on stones is pretty much like stabbed

I know what you mean. Nowadays it's like you slam your freaking toe so hard and you await the pain but it never comes. Do you wear boots and shoes a lot out side? I went to school in San Fran and wore boots all the time. My feet got sensitive when walking on a road after that.
