Prime Tim Sylvia vs Miocic...who wins?

Stipe. Sylvia, for such a massive guy, didn't exactly have an awful lot of KO power. Stipe would dance circles around him, either a UD or a late TKO.

Wow, this is actually a quite interesting fantasy matchup. To some extent, Sylvia is similar to Struve except that Sylvia was far superior and had a good jab. We all know what happened when Miocic fought Struve, but I don't think anyone would expect Struve to beat Miocic in a rematch. I think Sylvia would do quite well against Miocic but most likely lose. Though at the same time, Miocic is quite slow, small, unathletic, medium gas tank and mostly a boxer, it's the perfect fight for Sylvia. Sylvia's biggest problem would be his power not being enough to put Miocic away so he'd have to jab to a decision which I don't know he could do for 5 rounds.

Finished Ricco, Tra, Arlovski, etc and hurt Nog, I'd say he had plenty of power but was also willing to win dull safe decisions as vs Monson or Vera.

By comparison I don't think Stipe has "danced circles" around anyone ever, I think his biggest threat would be hustling Sylvia early. If the fight goes long then I think Tim would have a very good chance at beating him.

I may get pounced for this but prime Tim Sylvia was actually extremely underrated and beat some high level guys in their prime. He was dominant as hell for his reign and would have reach and size over Miocic. Does Tim have a chance? I think stylistically it would be interesting.
Miocic would absolutely destroy Sylvia, especially post-usada.

Same thing that happened the only time Stipe fought someone in their 20s.....(Struve)
He didn't master the eye poke back then.
Struve revolutionized the game with it.
Jon Jones popularized it.
Stipe and DC both obviously trained for it and kept doing it to each other in all 3 of their fights.

I’ll take Tim if he’s on his special supplements

Sylvia got dinged for Stanozolol but was very candid that he was using it to try to improve his physique and get rid of the flab.

The prime Tim Sylvia that got his ass beat by Handy? I'm not huge on MMA math but Stipe is a bigger stronger better striking version of Handy. Stipe by anything he wants.
His wrestling isn't anywhere near Randy's. Prime Sylvia had pretty good take down defense. If they fought it would probably be on the feet most of the time. If Struve can beat him so could Sylvia. Would be a pick'em fight in their primes just because of the styles.

? Stipe eyepoked DC in all 3 fights? Hmmm DC won the first fight because of an eyepoke, nearly retired Stipe with eye damage that required major surgery in the second fight and actually had the ref stop the fight in the third fight after DC kicked it off with an eyepoke.

I don't fault Stipe at all for eyepoking DC in their third fight. Apparently DC doesn't get penalized for cheating in the UFC.

Stipe would eventually figure out the range, and outbox him as Nogueira was able to. Stipe could also take him down.

Nogueira did not outbox him, Big Nog fan here, he ate the jab and got his faced all busted but eventually got the takedown.

That said I think Nog was past his prime, but I think Tim would have a good chance against Stipe

Prime timmay...i think gives stipe problems on the feet , but if stipe can get it down its over...

Standing timmay takes his chin or a decision working behind the jab and strong straights

On the ground stipe works him over and stops him.late or takes a decision ..

Would be a hard fight for both guys IMO

Most people don't remember but the UFC was trying to set up a Tim Sylvia vs Cro Cop, UFC vs Pride, title match. Had Sylvia beat Randy and Cro Cop beaten Gonzaga that would have been the next fight.

Randy vs Gonzaga was cool but we should have gotten peak Sylvia vs peak Cro Cop for HW title. That would have been a major legacy fight.
The UFC should've had Randy vs Cro Cop instead of making Cro Cop fight Gonzaga first.

Lol this is funny. All respect to big Tim, and I do agree with many that he is somewhat under appreciated by fans, but Stipe absolutely murks him. How old was an ancient Randy Couture when he came back and kicked Tim’s ass? Did he last longer than 30 seconds against Fedor? Stipe destroys him. That’s like asking me who wins between Pat Militich and Wonderboy.

Meh, nothing to bitch about.
Cheating is part of all sports.
I dont think people today realize back when basketball had no slow mo, the sneak mt elbows were real.
Paulie said years after the cotto fight how the most Bruzed part of his body was his plumb black shin from the knee bumps.
And the obvious “nobody is on PEDs unless they’re caught” fantasy. And people acting as if looking fat or skinny means anything. The eye test have failed with all body types(for example Brnette or TJ and many others).
You can write 10 PhDs on cheating in sport’s history.

Tim was a few years younger than Stipe is currently when a smaller, ancient and out of retirement Couture moved up and beat his ass. Then was subbed by Nog and KO’d in 40 seconds combined between Fedor and Mercer. Basically he wasn’t fighting Wes Simms, Cabbage or Gan McGee anymore. All the respect to big Tim, but I’m trying to imagine a world where Stipe doesn’t tool him.

HW has had the slowest progression skillwise then another of division for the simple reason power is KING...you dont need jiujitsu when u hit like nagannou...Randy was a better fighter for going down to 205 , he became better fighting there then moving back against an older timmay..that wasnt prime timmay...

This is also why we see some of the same names at the top or near it since years ago , HW MMA is special kind of beast...you could he wrecking fools like nagnnou does then you meet a stipe and get fucked sideways...but then a stipe gets koed by a long range striker like struve whos not that great himself...if strive could K.O stipe with his long limbs Timmay could too...people forget how hard timmy hit, and for how tall he was had a great high kick and as a miletich guy he know he had TDD cuz of hughes and other top wrestlers that came out of there
