Prime Shogun vs. Prime Tito: Who takes it?

Cracked skull. Only this time for real.

if both fought at their peaks shogun would beat tito.

I think it'd be a competitive fight depending on the rules, I'd take Tito by dec. in the UFC and Shogun by stoppage in Pride.

Tito was a durable good wrestler, Shogun's TDD was average, and Tito preferred to work out of open guard while most of Shogun's bottom game revolved around his half guard(although hitting that omoplata sweep on Arona of all people was impressive).

I could see Tito getting Shogun down enough and keeping him there doing work with his elbows to clinch 2 rounds with the 5 minute rounds and no threat of soccer kicks or knees if he's sprawled on. In Pride though I see Prime Shogun's gas tank, pace, 10 minute first round, soccer kicks, stomps, and stand up wearing Ortiz out even if he gets taken down(esp. with no elbows to worry about).

It's a shame LHW was split talent-wise for so long and they only combined when most of that golden era were on the tail end of their prime or had already left it.

lol, the smuggest-looking face ever. i think it would be a close fight, if tito could get shogun down. if shogun keeps it standing, he wins via tko. if tito keeps shogun down, a decision win.

I'd take Tito tbh, doubt Shogun can stop Tito's takedowns or sub him or keep up with the pace, bad match-up (on paper) for Shogun imo.

Would be a great fight, but I could see Shogun doing to Tito what he did to Chuck. If Tito could get out of the 1st, he could win a decision.

tough fight to call, Tito was a lot better of a fighter in his prime than people like to acknowledge, his wrestling and subs were good, his GNP was top notch, and he had great stamina.

I'd say Shogun, but Ortiz is a tough stylistic matchup for Shogun, so I wouldn't be shocked if Tito took it

I would go with prime Shogun

Hampage was a tougher style matchup with his elite wrestling and boxing. Arona was as well with his wrestling, kicking game and having one of the GOAT top games in MMA history, prolly the greatest in LHW history and both still got stomped. Tito didnt have the tools those guys did on the feet to set up his entries either and Shogoon has some of the best sweeps in LHW history and even damn near omoplatad a top player on the level of Arona, who no one in MMA but Shogoon could do much of anything to when he was on top, from Fedor to Wand to Horn to Lister. Never even had a point scored him in ADCC and Tito was one of the ppl he beat including Saulo, Almeida, Kerr, Babalu, Monson etc.

04-06 Shogoon was just on another level, its unlikely Tito survives the initial blitz, too dynamic and explosive just a supernova whirlwind coming at u.

Pride rules Shogun would have wrecked Tito worse than he wrecked Rampage. In a cage with UFC rules, it could have been more interesting.

Double KO! in the 1st.

Haha... seriously though I think Tito would GnP it out if they fought in a cage. In a ring, might be different.

I'd go with Shogun because in all likelihood he beats Tito pretty badly on the feet, especially in Tito's prime. Tito's striking improved more after his prime years. If Tito could get it to the mat, he might be able to GnP Shogun into a living death.
