Media Prime Reyes was something else, he would likely be champ in today LHW division

I’m a Reyes fan but Jan broke him then Jiri murdered him

He's in his prime and he's been KOed silly three times now. Maybe his prime is not as good as you think it is.

"Prime Reyes" just sounds goofy.

However... I do agree that Reyes had a pretty damn impressive rise and looked like a super high level LHW for a short period of time. He had great footwork, very good athleticism, good length with a weirdly proportioned awkward body that was difficult to deal with, great takedown defense, and legit KO power. He was a serious problem for a lot of guys. Unfortunately... he's a bit of a mental headcase and I think he just deteriorated mentally after getting the L vs Jon. The elite mentally strong fighters learn and improve when they have setbacks, but Dom went the other way, and it crushed him. And now his chin has been cracked and his body is likely physically deteriorating too after a lifetime of football and fighting.

Bro, Ryan “Superman” Spann would destroy Prime Reyes just like he did washed Reyes.

Spann literally never even trained until that fight. Don’t you understand me? He never trained MMA at all and still made it to the top 15.

Spann is the GOAT
Lmao<SelenaWow> we’ll see.

Prime Reyes fought Jan and got his lights shut out.

I don't like his long torso and square ass. When you see him from behind it's like his upper body is a big dick and his ass cheeks are the balls.

Might just be me tho

I think, just like the "Media" etc tags that you can put on a thread, I think there should be a little white tag also so you know it's a white belt thread. That would be splendid.

Jones made Reyes look better than he was. Jan made Reyes look like he actually was and Jiri finished him off.

It demonstrates on thin the line is between success and failure. One bad decision by the judges literally changed the trajectory of Reyes' career (and life). If he were given the decision over Jones, Reyes would have been a UFC champ, a legend for dethroning the great Jon Jones, and possibly would have gone on to further success. But after getting robbed, his train went completely off the tracks.

The mental side of sports is underrated. And Reyes doesn't seem to have particularly strong will or fortitude; he's not a "dog." It's pretty clear that he never recovered from the Jones decision, as demonstrated by the fact that he went into seclusion after the Jiri loss.

Reyes was in his prime against Jan and Jiri. He matched up well against Jon and got robbed but he wouldn't have had any reign.

He hit his peak in the Jones fight and has had a terrible downfall. It's partially on UFC - instead of giving him a reasonable rebound fight, they gave him the Sexyama treatment.
Why should he get easy fights if he was supposedly a top 5 guy? Ridiculous stuff.

Spann is the GOAT
GOATs do not get KOed by Johnny Walker and even worse don't lose to bums like Anthony fucking Smith

But... maybe "trained" Spann can be up there with motivated BJ Penn

BTW.. Reyes was just a bad matchup for Jones who also struggled with fucking Thiago Santos.

I guess everyone’s prime is when the fights are winnable, he got lucky his first ranked opponent didn’t get the split. He should be 0-5 against ranked fighters 1-4 is with a little luck on his side. Crazy thing is I thought Rakic should have got the split against Volk and Volk should have got the split against Reyes.

Besides beating OSP (which is a must to get in the divisions door) and his fictional (board and on life support) Jon Jones win the guy never did much.
