Has insane tdd and way better hands but i do see dc clinching him holding on the fence trying to get q decision.. Its a hard one with dc but it woulda ben a great fight

DC didn't just out grapple hendo, he tossed him around like a toy. There are levels to size and wrestling. DC is an olympic wrestler. Rampage? Not so much.

I think you could argue Rampage was already on the way down by then, the Rampage of say 2003/04 would be a more interesting test.

Agreed, the Rampage that stuffed Randleman's takedowns and destroyed him in the clinch would be a tough fight for DC, still think DC wins but it wouldn't be easy and he could get KOed. I think the Hendo fight was the last time Rampage used his wrestling and IMO that was probably the end of his peak(he declined slowly till the knee injuries though).

You could but I personally think the best Rampage Jackson was the one against Henderson. He showed everything in the fight from sub attempt to leg kicks to knees, he even lasted the full 5rnds. I was suprised.

I agree but I also think that was the last time we saw Rampage at his best, he rarely used kicks, knees, or takedowns after the Hendo fight.

DC would try to go inside to strike and get KTFO.

He mostly used his boxing but he was well rounded, had good take down defense and sub defense. And physically he is one of the strongest fighters ever and had a chin stronger than Prime NOG for fucks sake.

Rampage is a terrible match for DC, DC likes to stay inside and tire his opponents with strikers. Rampage would have none of that.

DC by dry humping his way to the 3rd or 5th round. I like rampage, he has a great personality and great striking but he's way too one dimensional. Not to mention DC has fought guys that hit twice as hard and overall better strikers as rampage like Anthony Johnson and Stipe.

In his prime, Rampage was incredibly difficult to take down. DC would wear himself out trying to take that Rampage down. That one gets decided on the feet and Rampage had some nice boxing. DC has the chin though. Tough one to call. 50/50

Rampage at his best is when he beat up Chuck the first time up until late 2006.
He was wilder on the feet and way more hittable, but he blended takedowns with strikes, had creative ground and pound and had a massively underrated clinch game.
He was also strong as fuck.

But I don’t think he’s stronger than Cormier at his best, and I think he’s barely a better athlete. I also think that the things Cormier struggles with aren’t in Rampage’s toolkit at any point. Because of how fast and explosive Rampage was in his prime it’d be a fun fight, but I’d take Cormier to wear him down and decision him. People don’t understand how good of a wrestler Cormier actually is. He’s only ever struggled to takedown fighters significantly taller than he is.

And Cormier would submit the Rampage that beat Hendo and Chuck (the second time) Easily I think, but that’s just me.

I think the Rampage that beat Randleman and Arona would have a very good chance.
He was so powerful. Randleman took Randy and Fedor down, even Waterman who was massive, but he failed when he tried against Rampage!

That is not Ibarra trained Rampage, who had solid take down defense.

I no longer doubt DC, but I think prime Rampage had extremely good takedown defense, was a large/strong lhw, and had dynamite in his hands. He would give Daniel some serious trouble. I lean 60/40 DC. Maybe 55/45.

I kinda wonder how these two would've matched up. Peak Rampage was super underrated. Don't think he'd match up very well against jones even in his prime just because of the range and versatility of Jon's attack on the feet. An exclusively boxing based attack will never work very well against him.

The simple answer Is that DC would've wrestled him for 5 but It's an Intriguing style matchup. I tend to think Rampage would've done very well against DC.

This was the best and hungriest Rampage has ever been. I don't think he was ever this good again, even In the Hendo fight which was shortly after. Seems once he made it to the top and started making money, he was never really the same. Especially after the mental breakdown around the forrest fight.

Not having Ibarra and a proper team / camp around him definitely did him no favors either.

you're thinking is wrong...dc would have wrestled rampage into the ground...and either tap him or pound him out...

He doesn't have to take him down. The clinch is DC's bread and better, along with his fight iq. Rampage probably does better than Rumble but, I don't see him beating DC.

shogun at no point in his career would have beaten dc...coleman threw shogun on the ground and wrecked his arm...dc is 10x the wrestler coleman is...with much better standup...the fight wouldn't have been close...why do guys keep bringing up old time fighters and thinking they can compete against modern day fighters?

Rampage had great takedown defense in his prime. Massive power in both hands making him a legit danger to DC. Then again, DC has always been underrated up until recently so I'm carefully picking DC in this one.

showing good takedown defense against randleman is one thing...against dc is quite another...

Horrible match up for Rampage, easy win for DC. Think Chuck in his Prime would have a much better chance. Liddell had better take down defense and reach than Rampage.

couture was able to takedown lidel with ease in their 1st fight...and dc is 10x the wrestler couture was.
