Prime Peter Aerts vs Prime Ernesto Hoost

I'd say that Hoost wasn't a true heavyweight in terms of size though. He would probably have been a light heavyweight if not a middleweight if they had more divisions back then. Most of his losses in K-1 were to bigger guys like Le Banner, Aerts, Bonjasky, Schilt, Greco, etc.

Fighting guys taller and heavier is never easy. That's also part of the reason why he got overpowered by huge Bob Sapp.
Interesting that you say that.
I need to get out my old dvds.

I have met both Bonjasky ans Hoost, +10yrs ago. They are both comfortably 6'4". I am 198cm. It always fascinates me when people get obsessed with height so I use myself as a marker.

From memory, I, am fairly sure that Remy and Hoost were around 15stone but in Kickboxing weights (not MMA), that is HW. They'd have to get even skinnier, which is tough.
Hoost had comically thin lower legs.
Remy had stronger legs but not bulky up top.
They are true heavyweights man. For sure.
You can't introduce fictional weight classes. Maybe K1 specified Super Heavyweights different to the rest of the world but nothing would be different now. They'd still be HW only today.

Not Ernesto Hoost. He's 1m89 (6'2) and if you check what weight he usually came to fight in, you'll see a significant difference between him and the other fighters such as the ones I've listed.

Hoost didn't seems that small to me, not when compared to most other top heavies. And JLB didn't seem that large either, he became one of the heavier guys when he put on all the extra muscle but it's really arguable if that muscle helped all that much. I think when watching a younger Le Banner vs Hoost they pretty much appeared the same size, Jerome's muscles just looked more defined. Meanwhile as he got older Hoost had a weird physique where he looked very skinny but if you pay more attention his arms weren't that thin.

Hoost was remarkably skinny and lanky compared to most of the main guys in K-1, if you can't see it with your own eyes I don't know what to tell you. And then when they announced the weights then it's even more obvious. Le Banner always had about 15-20 kilos on him every time they met. Just to give you an idea, just a few months before his first fight in K-1 in 1993 Hoost had just retained his MT title at 79.8kg (in 1992), meanwhile the same year (1992) Le Banner was fighting for Super Heavyweight titles while weighing around 110 kilos. A few years later Le Banner was 120+ kilos while Hoost was still around 100.
