Dayymn. How in the fuck is Nogueira still alive or even intact? I had forgotten about that piledriver.

Nog had stated he was actually knocked out from the slam, and then Sapp's follow-ups woke him back up.
We saw the same odd phenomenon with Giant Silva vs Herring. When you have a guy that size it can be difficult to find the confidence and groove you need to beat him. It has more to do with over-respecting the size and power.
Sapp's win over Hoost was most impressive, although there is rumblings of at least one being a fix. I am unsure either way, because again, Sapp was just a freak in size, and had power when he was younger. Especially in a kickboxing match, that can carry you.
I don't really see those fights as being the same, Giant Silva was so big that it did present technical issues but he lacked Sapp's agility and was inferior technically. Added to that I would say Herring was a little unlucky not to stop or injure Silva via lowkicks considering how many powerful ones he landed.
Sapp whilst maybe not a technical master was not just getting by on raw physical talent, he did have a decent level of both kickboxing and grappling ability.
Again though the key issue is that very early Sapp was mentally tough, he came though a lot of punishment and bad positions vs guys like Hoost and Nog never backing down. Crocop breaking his orbital with that left straight though had a very obvious effect on him, after that any punishment got him on the defencive ala Brock but worse.
You basically have three "ages of Sapp", the very early days when he was mentally tough and a threat to anyone that lasted for about 18 months, the days when he was mentally weak but still taking the sport seriously that lasted until around 07-08 and finally todays Sapp who clearly doesn't give a crap about winning.
Roided Sapp back in the day was a scary dude, Hoost put a beatdown on him and lose. Sadly the guy didn't give a single fuck about fighting, he just wanted money.
I seem to recall Sapp had his way with Mr. Perfect knocking him out twice. Going 2-0 against the best kick boxer of that era is pretty damn good for any novice.

Prime Bob Sapp - Error, error. -Does not compute! Error error
He was in his prime when he beat Ernesto Hoost twice in K-1 and had a war with Noguiera. He became a joke when Cro Cop stole his eye-bone with a punch and he realized that he could actually be seriously injured in fights, but as other posters said he at least tried to win fights up until the past 8 years or so.Prime Bob Sapp - Error, error. -Does not compute!
