Think it's good by Newcastle, tbh.
Decent player, but probably not good enough to be in title winning teams. Good strategy to move these types on relatively quickly imo. United are crap at this, so we end up with likes of Smalling, Young, Lindelof, Fred, Martial, Wan Bissaka, Rojo, Fellaini etc etc etc all at the club for 7 years and/or playing 200+ games for the club.
Trippier's been good for you, but he's not a guy who's going to be much good in a 5 year build, which is where Newcastle are. Someone like Livarmento is a far better profile signing than Tripper was, long term, imo.
I'm fine with it, and it makes sense to get rid of the players that have no long-term future now when you can get a decent price for them (player fees are always inflated in the Jan window) These players have done their job, and it's time to bring in more quality now. They're clearing the decks for the summer, as this was always supposed to be the BIG one for us.
CL money, the Sela, Adidas, training ground, and stadium naming rights money all come into the mix this summer window.
Livramento has been our best defender this year so far. Granted, Botman has missed most of the season up to now and is clearly the best defender at the club, but Tino is legit and should be playing more.
