Whole thing is bollocks. Either actually bring in clear, enforceable rule, or fuck the whole thing off.

It definitely needs looking at, and more clubs are pushing for it to be changed. Villa have been complaining about it recently because they know that if they don't make the Champions League this season, they will have to sell and try again.

For clubs that are trying to progress and improve their squad every year, if you don't make the Champions League in back-to-back years, then FFP is going to force you into a reset. It's rigged; they have allowed teams to pull the ladders up behind them after years of owner investment.

Everton are getting shafted; they built a new stadium, and it's going to be part of the reason they get done for FFP. Then you have West Ham, who got a stadium for free and have been able to invest in their squad. The whole thing is a joke.

Are you now a Tottenham supporter den?!

<Moyes5>
Nah, like any true footy fan, I only truly support my boyhood club (Universitario de Deportes in Peru). Everything else is just sympathizing.

But I am rooting/sympathizing for Spurs this season in the Prem. Big Ange had them saucing so beautifully early on that they won me over.

I’ve said for about 10 years that these 100m+ transfers and 300k p/w becoming normal is going to be unsustainable, yet likes of United, Barca, Chelsea etc have continued to go mental.

You feel it’s almost at a crossroads right now. All the super league talk and Saudi Arabia involvement isn’t going away, so fuck knows how it’s going to end.

Fact is in the Prem there is a big 6 + Newcastle (not to mention others with ambition like Villa and West Ham), but with only 4 CL spots each season, at least 3 big clubs are going to be handcuffed.

Quick fact check. Note no one is paying me to pore through all the details until I have everything 100% correct so this is superficial.

The London Stadium was built for the 2012 Olympics.
It was then converted for football matches. It also hosts other events but whether it had to be converted for those idk. If so it doesn't appear to have cost that much. West Ham paid for part of the conversion. Maybe 20%?

The London Stadium is owned by E20 Stadium LLP.
E20 Stadium LLP is owned by London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and Newham Legacy Investments.
I couldn't find a straight answer to who does the LLDC belongs to. The Greater London Authority is my best effort. I think it's at least under their control.
Newham Legacy Investments is owned by Newham Council.
GLA/Newham paid for the rest of the conversion and presumably for the stadium to be built in the first place.

The stadium is also operated by LLDC. Vinci SA got a 25 year contract to operate it in 2015, but were bought out by LLDC in 2019 as they were losing a lot of money.

The tenants are West Ham (99 years from 2013, most of the year) and UK Athletics (50 years from 2013, during the summer). Maybe these leases were renegotiated a few years later as you see 2015 and 2016 mentioned as well.

There are also baseball, motorsport and rugby league and union matches held in the London Stadium, as well as concerts. How are the profits from them divvied up? Don't know.

West Ham apparently pay about £3.5 million a year in rent and the stadium loses over £30 million? a year. For the annual loss I've seen figures from £500,000 to £90 million. Apparently it's depreciating really fast.

West Ham are interested in buying the London Stadium. It does initially appear to be another of many examples of massive corporatist corruption where taxpayers pay for things and capitalists run them down while extracting large profits. However what do you think would happen if the owners tried to significantly raise the rent? This situation should not have happened, but how would you go about fixing it now?

3.5 million per year is nothing. It's probably less than most grounds yearly maintenance fees

'As a rule of thumb, it's recommended that between 1-2% of a stadium's total construction cost should be budgeted for annual maintenance expenses.'

Everton's new stadium is costing them over 700M quid

Dan Burn broke his back early in the season, missed almost 3 months and he still has more goals and assists than Antony. oof
