I can’t believe, even United, have come this far with FdJ, without an indication he’d consider a move.

Obviously more than meets the eye, imo.

This is my take. If United ends the window without FDJ, it would probably be the most incompetent thing they have ever done in the transfer market.

If the glass is a few drops full, at least they have a target in mind for the midfield. United is an injury/illness away from disaster up top (hopefully Martial is OK) and seemingly have nothing on the horizon aside from rumors of €55M for an unknown 19 year-old, untested striker from the Austrian league.

So Real Madrid Camp was a bust. There were thunderstorms nearly every day, and about half the camp got rained out. My wife said there were times with no lighting or thunder, and the coaches seemed too lazy to get the kids out there.

There was one other 10U girl, so my daughter had to play with the 10U boys. My 2 boys had a blast dressing in Real Madrid gear to play soccer every day but were ultimately disappointed with all the sitting around. We may have to pull a Luis Enrique and make the switch to Barcelona camp next summer.

The Luis Enrique plans may be on hold for a bit. The camp contacted us today with some good news. My daughter and oldest son got selected to train in Spain. It looks like they get to work with the actual academy coaches, train on the grounds, meet players, etc.



The bad news, though, is my middle son didn’t get picked. He’s going to be devastated. He’s the most serious about soccer out of all my kids and works harder than all of them combined. It’s a pretty baffling decision. He stood out in his group and even got recognition from the coaches on several occasions, whereas my oldest isn’t a standout and kind of blended in with his group. I’m wondering if they just picked the wrong kid—and given we’re talking about a club who can’t fax things properly, I think this may be a distinct possibility. Even worse than breaking the news to him, we may be raising a couple of Real Madrid fans after all is said and done if we end up doing this.

UPDATE:

Got the email for my middle son. So all 3 got invited to do the training. Looks like an expensive summer camp, but it seems like an amazing experience.

It turns out, my daughter got selected for something extra that the boys didn’t get picked for. We don’t have all the details yet, but it looks like she has the opportunity to represent Team USA’s 10U squad in some world challenge 7 v 7 international tournament held in Spain.




The crappy thing is that they are a few months apart from each other, so it’d be unlikely we’d get to do both.
