Economically wouldn't make much sense, considering Barca's current finances. Also, the squad is just in bad shape, their standards have been lowered tremendously, there's not a ton of material to work with, especially by CL standards. They went from Messi, Suarez, Neymar to Depay (who's actually really good, to be fair), De Jong and Braithwaite (who aren't). Probably makes the most sense to let him crash and burn for a season so that whoever comes next can start with a clean slate.

Let him coach the youngsters and get them in good shape, bring someone with a clear vision in when the time and opportunity arises, which is not now.
Bringing in a coach to deal with a bunch of demoralized and pissed off footballers is not a good idea.
