Yeah it was serious business for sure. Those were really good tracks.

Everybody was on edge during those times. I remember BET and MTV had to be careful in how many songs from what coast they played in fear of being seen as being favorites to one coast or the other. Same with some of the magazines. It's hilarious looking back.

Being from here in New Mexico(southwest US) it was majority West Coast preference. I loved both so it didn't matter to me but I remember going to some parties and if they were hosted by some local G's(almost exclusively Hispanic gangs basically looking like a bunch of B-Reals) they would not play East Coast shit and would get offended at the thought of it.

In hindsight, the insanity of it all makes me lmao.

Jeez, you guys living in it must've been crazy. I was just reading about it in the Source and hearing about it on radio.

Re MTV and BET, I remeber The Source awards being cancelled because Ghost Face Killa said:

"My heart is cold like Russia, got jerked at The Source awards

I'm on the 5th episode and I still can't figure out if I like it or not.

Watched season 1 and liked it, but I didn't have Now TV (that shows it here in the UK) for season 2, so I didn't bother. The wife used to read the comics, so I left it for her to get us back in, but meh.

to 2000 when the SOURCE Awards had to be cancelled because of all the beefs and shootings, jumpings, etc... was like something I've never seen and may never see again. I was 13-18 years of age so I had the most formative years of my life musically and otherwise during that timeframe. I almost regret maybe not appreciating more that moment in music history looking back. Hindsight is 20/20 of course.

The amount of amazing music that came out during those years is remarkable.

Hellz yea. They all 3 had good moments. By the end I had a toss up between Lisa and Kelly. The first decade after I think Lisa had a huge lead(she was smokin in How to be a Player) but she's had a rough few years recently and Kelly has surpassed her. Jesse lost it relatively quickly after the show.
