Eusebio distances himself from Barcelona links
Luis Enrique's confirmation that he will leave Barcelona has prompted potential replacements to respond. Eusebio Sacristan had his say.

Eusebio Sacristan insists he is focused 100 per cent on Real Sociedad, despite being installed as an early favourite to replace Luis Enrique at Barcelona.

Following Wednesday's 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon, which took Barca top of LaLiga, Luis Enrique confirmed that he will not renew his deal at Camp Nou when it expires at the end of the season.

Eusebio, like Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola before him, has managed Barcelona B and he was part of Johan Cruyff's side that won the European Cup in 1992.

However, having led Real Sociedad to the fringes of the fight for Champions League qualification, Eusebio says he will resist any advances from Catalonia.

"I congratulate Luis Enrique for the work he has done in Barca, which has been very good, the mentality he has instilled and the titles he has won," Eusebio told a news conference.

"When he finishes, it will be clear that Barca have had a great coach.

"I have nothing more to say than what I had to say when I renewed my contact with Real.

"My mind and my spirit and my desire are placed on this team. My head is 100 per cent here. There is nothing else and there will be nothing else."

Ozil shunned Barcelona for Madrid due to Pep cold shoulder
A supposed lack of interest from Pep Guardiola convinced Mesut Ozil to shun Barcelona in favour of LaLiga rivals Real Madrid.

Mesut Ozil says that a lack of interest shown by Pep Guardiola convinced him to reject a move to Barcelona in 2010, despite having initially set his sights on a move to Camp Nou.

The Germany international was one of the most sought after prospects in world football having played a starring role for his country at the 2010 World Cup and impressing for Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.

Catalan giants Barca were among the clubs showing an interest and Ozil revealed that he was convinced he would make the switch to Camp Nou.

However, the now Arsenal midfielder opted for a move to Barca's fierce Clasico rivals Real Madrid, a decision Ozil says he made due to Guardiola's attitude.

"Arsenal were interested in signing me after the 2010 World Cup, as were Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid," an extract from Ozil's new book 'Die Magie des Spiels', published by Bild, reads.

"My agent sat down with Bayern to discuss a move. The club told him about their plans with me and how they intended to use me. He had similar talks with the other clubs that wanted me.

"Before I travelled to Barcelona, I was convinced that was my next club. I was leaning toward joining Barcelona. There was no team in the world that played more beautiful football.

"But Guardiola did not attend talks and he did not call me either the days after. He did not even send me a text. He did not show me that he wanted to sign me as well. My interest in a move to Barcelona quickly decreased."

Well I can already say that it will be 50/50, either I just completely fucked the team and have to make minus point transfers to clear the mess or it will be a huge success :D :D :D

I see. Imo should have waited for teams to have double gw's for the wildcard since you waited this long!
Arsenal, United, Soton, City, Chelsea, Boro, Watford and Sunderland to have extra games later on, that is potentially alot of points right there :)
