I went to Whitby vs South Shields today. If South Shields won today they would be mathematically promoted to the Vanarama National League North and being it is also Easter Monday and South Shields is not too far they sent a large contingent of fans, with a drum. I live in the centre of town and could hear them singing and drumming before I set off to the ground. The attendance was 1,583, which is the biggest this season. The biggest until now was 900 odd against our local rivals Marske and the usual is 3 to 400. There was a big queue to get in, although as I have a season ticket I didn't have to wait. There were no seats left. The place was full of Geordies.

The game was more competitive than I expected but South Shields did dominate possession. Our defence were prepared for that however and they dug in well. We defended stoically and did not allow them many quality chances. We attacked on the break but IIRC their goalie only had to make one save all game and it was easy. In the 35th minute South Shields set up a textbook cross - header into the top corner and scored. Into the end of the 1st half, and 2nd half we started to get a bit more possession but between their stifling defence and our lacklustre finishing it didn't convert into anything. However we played positively and did not concede any more goals but most of the game was played in our half. After the final whistle there was a pitch invasion.

I'm not disappointed by today's result, I fully expected to lose and I predicted it to be by a bigger margin so it is what it is. We're not getting relegated, even though our last 5 results have been 4 losses and a draw. South Shields are now 8 points clear at the top and are promoted with 2 games left. Whitby stay in 15th.

Dean Smith to Leicester. Jesus.

My best mates a die hard Villa fan and absolutely loves Smith, won't hear a bad word against him. No idea why. Probably loyalty for promotion.

But he's a fucking shit manager. Leicester could be in major trouble here.

Same mate HATED the Emery appointment despite me saying he's clearly, by a country mile, the best manager Villa have EVER had. He loves him now. Course he does.
