To be fair, Mount and Maguire were underwhelming even with their Premier League experience. It’s almost as if everyone other than the guys responsible for the transfer knew they were t getting world beaters.

Everyone remembers those 2 but at least they were somewhat established….the 50m for Wan Bissaka is probably more mental.

He’s just changed international allegiance, but I believe it’s still the highest fee paid for a guy with no caps.

Scalvini?

We got quoted silly numbers for him

Live in a world where paying for potential is basically the same as paying for the proven thing.

Atalanta are a bastard to deal with, too.

They quoted us 80m for their CM Ederson apparently after already pulling our pants down for Hojlund.

Scalvini has just come back from an ACL injury too so he would be a risk. Atalanta were looking for crazy money.

Thiaw is the smarter option. 30M quid plus some add-ons. Could end up being a steal.

One of my rules would be don’t buy “expensive rejects” from the big clubs.

De Ligt (Bayern) and Ugarte (PSG) have yet to convince me.

We can't afford those types of wages anyway so we're good. I reckon 200K would be our absolute limit now and that would be for a top player. Can't see us breaking that wage for a good few years yet. 160K for Bruno is our highest earner right now.

Result? I hope you don't question my loyal support (for years)
Heute werden wir unweigerlich Niederlage schmecken. :(
@650lb Sumo Ich verstehe :( tough opponent Workington? Will see... first couple of matchdays always hard to predict. Viel Glück! :)🍀
Kamerad wisse, ich würde niemals deine Treue in Frage stellen. 🤝 (Unsere Ehre heißt Treue.)
[I quoted myself instead of @BroRogan with the last post, so have corrected here.]

Yup. Wages is low key more important than the fee.

We were paying both Varane and Casemiro 300k+ p/w.

Granted they were both 30ish, but rare a guy gets shipped off from a super club and goes on to have a great career.

Arjen Robben comes to mind, but largely it ends up being Alexis Sanchez/Mesut Ozil if you’re lucky.
