Exactly As you say, both sides are bad but I can see why the Palestinians hate them and even after the 100 billion that gets given to Israel, they still want us dead. It pisses me off more than the zelensky stuff

I keep seeing these kind of comments, but I doubt that anyone ever claimed that blowouts won't happen anymore, because after all there are even more teams in this new CL. The new format is supposed to make the group games matter more, which it achieves by having the playoffs after the group stage and having the playoff games "best vs. worst" etc., also a few teams go through without extra games, which gives them a rest advantage. Second point was to make the group stage more enjoyable by having more different opponents, I think that works really well, too.

Personally I was done with the bunch of 4 team groups a long time ago, there was usually one interesting group (with 3 or even 4 decent teams) and the rest of the groups were simply boring/meaningless (because most groups had 1 good team, 1 decent team and two shit ones).

What is weird here in Europe (for me at least) is that conservatives/righties show very strong support for Israel, while communists/lefties seem to have a hard-on for Hamas. I'm not an expert because I don't give enough of a shit about zionists or muslims in that region, but what I do know is that it's very important to keep an eye on the history of who invented, armed and paid certain parties/groups in that region, plus when all of it happened.

Always follow the business interests around any given conflict as well. Saddam planned to stop dealing the oil in Dollars and, big surprise, the US invaded Iraq a few years later for reasons that turned out to be BS (which everyone involved knew beforehand). Look up what kind of mineral resources are in eastern Ukraine, ohhh what a big fucking surprise, it happens to be whole bunch of stuff needed for the super important semiconductor industry! WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED?!?!?!
