The Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Guardia Civil demanded in September 2023 to trace the accounts related to Gerard Piqué, for his alleged relationship with the contract negotiated with Luis Rubiales during his time as president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the Super Cup to be played in Saudi Arabia, putting the focus on several transfers. This is stated in the summary of the open case, to which AS has had access. Specifically, the Guardia Civil agents are investigating five accounts of the former Barcelona player and current president of Kosmos. Piqué, for now, has not been charged.
The investigator of the case, Judge Delia Rodrigo, issued a rogatory commission to Andorra for these accounts and others associated with his companies and Andorra CF, of which he has been the owner since 2018. The agents focus on the accounts of the football club to find out the destination of the funds coming from an account titled Kosmos.
In this account, it says textually, "successful commissions paid by SELA Sport Company in consideration for the intermediation services provided in the negotiations with the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for the dispute of the Super Cup of Spain in Saudi territory have been collected". These commissions are estimated by the UCO at "four million euros per year".
The UCO refers to two previous reports of theirs from December 2022 and May 2023 in which they state that "the role of Kosmos Football SL in the negotiations for the celebration of the aforementioned sporting event, as well as the economic relations declared to the Tax Agency both internally and externally, have been reflected".
Further on in this report, the UCO stops at the "business conglomerate" led by Piqué, mentioning that the former Barcelona footballer acquired 56% of Andorra in 2018 through Kosmos.
In this regard, it details three movements in bank accounts in Andorra: a first one for 3.4 million euros between June 2019 and March 2022 coming from Kosmos "recipient of SELA's commissions". "The amount transferred represented to the football club more than a quarter of the income received from the Saudi company," it says.
It then cites the company Kerad Holding because it declared to the tax authorities an income from Andorra of 12 million euros, dated 12 February 2021. The UCO says it was ordered by Gerard Piqué "under the concept of capital increase".
Finally, it cites another payment from Andorra from the company Kerad Holding in the amount of two million euros, dated 15 February 2021. The payer was also Piqué and the concept of "capital increase" was also used.
The UCO explains that its request for information is related to the intention of "checking the possibility that there have been economic gifts" to Luis Rubiales or other directors of the RFEF by Kosmos or Gerard Piqué and his entourage, "as a result of the negotiation for the celebration of the Spanish Football Super Cup".
"It is imperative to be able to carry out a complete traceability of the funds received by Kosmos", continues the UCO, according to the report collected by Europa Press, which states that "there is a large flow of money between accounts". As an example, it highlights the fact that "90% of the outflows of funds from the account receiving SELA's payments are destined for accounts belonging to the same group or linked to it".
