Even intelligence doesn’t always translate over into the real world. I went to school with a girl who was clearly on the spectrum. She was very intelligent when it came to solving problems on paper, but the lack of social skills made it tough to translate into real world application.
Honest to god one of the funniest things I’ve seen in my career was working with this girl in the ED. She got this drunk dude off his bed to do a neuro exam. He starts pissing on the floor. The nurse in the area screams at this guy—“STOP!!!” The guy cuts off midstream, hands free. Kind of impressive. This girl starts to panic—almost as if she’s telling herself she’s getting kicked out of school over this. I tried to calm her down, and went to go get some towels and gloves. I was gone maybe 2 minutes. I walk back in, and she’s standing there—gloveless—with this guy’s dick in her hand. She was still freaking out, trying to get his dick into a portable urinal with the top still on, basically mashing his head over and over into the plastic. She looked at me in a state of fear and asked “What do I do?!”
I actually had to tell her to take the top of—and maybe put on some gloves.
