Very hard to pick, but had to go with Predator. it's alpha as hell, I wish they would remake it with a similar cast. Get some hulking big dudes to fight predators hand to hand.
The problem is, Predator was new when that movie was made. So the impact it had, will never be replicated.
I dont think you need to have hulking big dudes though. Here's what im thinking
1) Treat the source material seriously. No kids, no fucking That 70's show guy.
2) Give us a hero that we can buy, as someone who could actually fight the Predator. Not a native amerian little girl, not fucking Timothée Chalamet...but not someone like The Rock either. A serious actor who is (or can be) physically imposing, like Tom Hardy or some shit.
3) Make the Predator the villain. No more fuckin team ups (this is something that PREY did right. He was just a powerful villain the whole movie) This motherfucker has to be diabolical. He gotta do some insidious shit that actually makes you root for the hero to beat him.
4) I think Predator hunting people in a city like in Predator 2 could work again. Batman vs Predator (I know it sounds ridiculous, but that comic is phenomenal! ) did an amazing job expanding on that premise.
5) We need fleshed out human characters. We need to CARE when the Predator kills them. In Predator 1 and 2 we cared when Predator killed the friends of the hero character. We didnt care that much for anyone in Predators cos none of them had any connection to each other and they were mostly stereotypical characters. This means really good actors. When Blain dies in Predator, its shocking, cos you dont expect him to get killed so soon and so easy, esp with that gun he had. Then, Mac standing watch in the night, grieves over his friend. This kind of shit just doesnt exist in the other movies (other than the first 2.)
That being said, PREY was actually a step in the right direction. Its by no means perfect, but better than all the movies after the first 2.
