McGregor said it himself that he was not using his energy efficiently.

I feel this quote from the man himself sums up why he lost. He did not stick to his philosophy and went head hunting, ultimately gassing out. Obviously the power shots he was throwing over and over are evidenced by this:

Ultimately, the way you choose to fight someone will dictate the result.

I am not making excuses for McGregor as Nate won fair and square from being the guy we all knew he was (Tough aka can take a punch repeatedly, good boxer with a great ground game).

McGregor got into his own head and wanted to prove to himself and everyone else that he could make any look foolish, however, ultimately failed in his first big at welterweight.

I think after this fight, we will all see what kind of 'heart' McGregor really has. Can he come back and be better? Can he overcome this loss emotionally and mentally? Only time will tell.

to be fair to your boy I bet he'd show a lot more heart in a title fight.

conor was drowned by his self-imposed expectations. it wasnt enough to beat nate, he had to win by crushing left hand or wheel kick, so he kept stubbornly chasing the home run hit, instead of just trying to win the fight on any terms.

I have a better quote

"I'm looking to beat Nate on the ground. His BJJ is overrated"

Rewatch the fight again. Nate ate a couple good shots, but he wasn't being tagged as much as people think. He rolled with almost every punch in Rd 1., and the cut was opened up by a grazing punch, which made things look a lot worse than they appeared to be.

Personally, I thought one of Conor's best shots was a right hand to the body.

stamina and volume beat persicion and timing

He probably was trying to win impressively. Although part of it also is the volume from Nate. Guys try to match it when they are getting hit but throw full power. It's a hard pace to keep up in general and harder when taking shots. Nate has forced a lot of guys to shoot on him. It's how he gets most his subs.

That was a nasty body shot. Conor said he thought it was a mistake that he stopped looking for it after Nate landed some body shots of his own.

from a comment to the youtube video of Nate slapping Conor:

weed beats speed
weed beats power
weed beats precision
weed beats timing

Weeds beat Precision, Power, Timing and Speed.

Conor was beat ... He said he can go ten rounds and never get tired all of a sudden that's his excuse is efficiency ... Nate can keep that pace for days if Conor slowed down a bit more he would have got finished faster ...

Diaz bless

Insightful. I think you're right about that.

I got a quote;

"Fatigue makes cowards of us all."

McGregors problem was range. He was either falling short with his punches or when he did land they were connecting with him over reaching not to mention Nate has a good chin. 11 days didn't give him enough time to adjust to a pretty major problem of fighting someone with 3" of height and 2" of reach advantage. He underestimated the problem he was facing.
