Hi,
Trained in some Krav for a while after boxing for a short while. Whilst I can appreciate many of the techniques it seems to me that a lot these are lost if an altercation became "fluid" in the sense that both people were on their feet and just out of striking distance. I had a discussion with a cousin of mine who is convinced that the KM techniques would allow him to survive an altercation with a boxer, BJJ or MMA person. I always doubted this and this was made much clearer when I did a bit of BJJ. Without contact in sparring or without a pre-emptive strike is it feasible that this would hold up?

The only way I see krav surviving against a well trained MMA/BJJ/etc is if they have "live" training in their curriculum. Basically sparring, rolling, realistic partner drills. Now remember, MMA, BJJ, MT, etc live training in the cirriculum, given its a competitive sport. But there are still guys who don't spar/roll, and in my opinion they're in just as a bad situation as crappy TMA guys.

Just the mental aspect would already be jarring. Even guys who compete in striking, when they get outstruck and countered on most of their strikes, they shut down while the opponent pushes on and enforces their will. Imagine that against someone who's never sparred/rolled, and doesn't know the feeling of getting hit. It'd be like a deer in headlights

or if they're carrying a weapon :)
