Just found out through budo's facebook. Prana's "Remix", which seems like a navy Druid, goes on sale at 1pm PST (3PM EST)... pretty much now.

Sweet looking gi, however, I still can't seem to find anyone who can provide me with a picture of the stripped silk lining inside.

    Silk taping, interesting.
175 for a gi is sadly not that bad these days.

That being said, I'm impressed how much pay equipment these days, my high score is 160 and that was a red vulkan last year, and was given as an Xmas present.
Just as happy with my gis around $100.

What is the big deal about silk? I though silk was dry clean only, so having it on a Gi could be problematic.

Using the argument that people used for The Wave, which I think is overpriced, there are not many, if any, gis that are lined that you can get for under $200 at retail.

That being said, IMO I would think that any company offering a white gi that's lined at $150 is fair. Dyed gis obviously cost a little more, then chalk up the fact that this one is silk and not lycra rises the cost a bit, and there's added details to it. I think it's a fair price.

I think it's more reasonable than Scramble charging $220 for the Wave or Gameness charging $225 for the Elite, especially when you can buy an Origin and the damn thing comes with a rash guard for $190.

You can machine was silk on a gentle cycle. Bet your ass you can't put it in a dryer though.

Only problem I see would be the silk wearing away pretty easily over time.

it just has silk taping... not lined. unless thats a horrible omission on their listing...

and you have established brands like Koral, Keiko, Vulkan, etc that have gis in this price range and lower. Not to mention how many newer companies have gis for less. Shit, look at what Nickhh is doing.

I am just genuinely curious how a no name company comes up with pricing that rivals if not exceeds the pricing of established comps in the industry. Just like that 1793 or whatever that new gi company is.

Shit, you're right. I double checked, the Remix is only silk taped. Totally went over my head, and I just assumed it was the same as The Druid which they say is silk lined, although now I'm wondering if by 'lining" they meant taping.

Good call. Then in that case I agree, this is a little overpriced then. Maybe no name companies have a higher startup cost and that's why they need to charge more? Since they're ordering fewer because they sell less maybe they're paying a higher cost per piece?

I wouldn't say Prana is a "no-name" company, remember when they caught shit in the G&E for their sperm/SYR logo a while back? I think the only people who defended them were BigBoyJiuJitsu and TheSubmissionCh. I've had a couple people come up to me in practice and ask me about my "Prana" gi when in fact I was wearing a SYR Yin. - E

I would say they are a no name company. and I remember the sperm logo too. The only reason they ever got any attention was because they looked like straight up SYR knock offs.

Definitely not a 'no-name' company but I kinda lump people into the following groups:

Old Guard: Atama, Koral, MKimonos, etc.

New Guard: Scramble, CTRL, Tatami, SYR, etc.

    Up and comers: Everybody else

So there a review of Prana's Druid at GiReviews now so it's confirmed,

Despite what their description says, the Druid also has silk taping and is not silk lined. The confusion however for the Remix was my fault.
