MMA is based around the spectacle of two trained competitors pitching their skills against one another with the equal opportunity of employing attack and defence to win a sporting competition.

To me, that is quite dissimilar to two people standing opposite each other and taking turns to slap one another

Are they allowed to roll with them? If so, at least there are two skills (slapping + rolling) involved in the “sport”. If not, then it seems to literally just be a case of whoever goes first or is stronger will always win.

Flinching or moving of the head at all are against the rules as far as I know. Guess I'm not up to date on the minutia of the rules, but that's what I gathered.
