Probably a very newbie stupid question, but I figure you guys will know the answer so I'm going to ask it anyway
I have very good cardio (for my age :icon_lol
and happily handle ten 2 minute rounds of intense bag work. However, I realised I only really train on the bag using combinations of at least two punches. I do try to hit it with as much power and body weight as I can, but I also try to use speed and this obviously reduced the force I can get behind each punch.
So yesterday I started working on just working on hitting the bag with single punches at full power. It was fun but half way through I have to admit I felt a bit stupid.
Is there any validity to this type of training, and if so, how do you alter your technique to ensure full power?
Once again, sorry if this is a daft question.
