Do you mean historical/dialectical materialism or "economic determinism" because those concepts/frameworks are so fundamental to Marxist ideology, and have in my opinion so thoroughly penetrated popular non-Marxist thought, that I struggle to think anyone would say either is wrong. And, to be honest, I would even be surprised that you deny them.

I would say that economic determinism does have many critics even from other Marxists, but is has an essential element of truth that is undeniable.

No I am referring to Marx’s stages of history with each stage leading to its own demise and evolution to the next stage. Here I think he got it quite wrong although, still getting some of the micro points quite right.

And I’ll profess to not having anything more than green belt knowledge of Marxism, what little I know comes from trying to know enough to provide a proper rebuttal to WU.

What I found from reviewing what I did learn is that in places I agreed with the concepts put forth and in others I was forced to have better understanding of basic historical events to see where I thought Marx, or at least WU, was wrong.

And yes I am sure you are, you would have just made a bigger effort to keep all the good guys together during the Spanish civil war .
