I don't know if any of you liked Falling Sickness (the punk/ska band from Riverside) but this is Fritz' (the guitar player from Falling Sickness) newest band. He also drew the artwork

Moxiebeat - Dead Words (2015)

Dogs of Ire - Vantichristo (2010) (Fritz's other band, after Falling Sickness, but before Moxiebeat, Fritz also drew the artwork)

Towers - Full Circle (2014) (they put out a split with Dogs of Ire)

His Hero Is Gone - Surrender (Memphis, Tennessee) (1998) (probably my favourite HHIG song)

From Ashes Rise - Concrete & Steel (Portland, Oregon) (2000)

Heroin - Moving Parts (1993) (I can't believe this song is almost 25 years old, these guys were light years ahead of their time)

Cursed - Bloody Mary

Some of Chris Colohan's (Cursed) other bands. All from the Toronto area. He just got Left For Dead back together recently (they're only 30 minutes away from me :D) Ewan Exall was the big promoter for punk in Toronto when all these bands were around, and Chris Colohan was his favourite, these bands played a lot, and they all kicked serious ass so no one complained.

The Swarm - Fucking Invincible at 1am

Countdown To Oblivion - The Way It Is

Ruination - Also featured Ebro from Charles Bronsons and MK Ultra.

Left For Dead - Pliant

As I Lay Dying - 94 Hours (these guys were tight live)

The Sawtooth Grin (These guys clearly loved Dillinger Escape Plan)

lol sawtooth grin has to have the most high pitch scream of any band i've ever heard

also pretty crazy the singer of AILD tried to have his wife killed

^^this whole album is great start to finish. one of my favs

edit i guess it kinda is more of just a hardcore album than anything else but some people ITT may still appreciate it

Screamo is an actual genre? I always thought it was a made up word used by outsiders to refer too any kind of extreme form of music.

Gas Up Yr Hearse take the high-pitched singing award, but they at least have a male singer to balance the screeches out.

ForceFedGlass were pretty awesome. I never heard about the singer trying to have his wife killed, that's crazy.

Never heard "Stab You In the Head" before, I like :D

A lot of the people in the scene hate the term, but to answer your question, yes it is, or was, now they just call it post-hardcore.

Basically when Green Day, The Offspring, Bad Religion, NOFX, & Rancid were making punk music popular, and bands like Jimmy Eat World were making emo popular, the louder, faster, crazier bands were classified as screamo (they still just called themselves Punk for the most part because they hated the comparison to emo (especially when it became a fashion) and most also think the term is stupid since all music is emotional, to some extent.

Eventually to avoid confusion they started referring to "screamo" bands as Post-Hardcore.

It's not just people in the Punk(and all of it's various sub-genres) scene that HATE that term. I always hear ignorant people refer too any kind of extreme form of Metal: Black, Death, Thrash, Metalcore/Deathcore(not a fan of this stuff much anymore) etc, anything with harsher vocals than a Katy Perry song, they refer too it as "screamo". Even noobies who supposedly listen too extreme Metal are like "I like screamo so much! zomg!".

I just thought it was some stupid term that a knucklehead came up with that stuck.

When I was a younger I was told that screamo is emo with screaming parts in it. I never put much stock into genre names though.

Bucket Full of Teeth's first album was released as a series of three 7" records, at the same time. I ended up paying over $30 with taxes for them, a year later all three were released on one CD for $12. It was worth it though, love those records. They all line up to make a big picture.

This one's from their second album

Very under-rated band. Will Killingsworth from Bucket Full of Teeth, Orchid, Ampere etc. lists Off Minor as his favourite band.

October 14th the new (& final) Dillinger Escape Plan album is released.

They debut a new song from the album here, 2 minutes in. Classic DEP sounds, nothing ground-breaking from them, but why fix what isn't broke. Nice mix of all their styles, the ending is pretty different from their other stuff too, Mike Patton-esque. Can't wait.

Fucking love these guys. More HC punk than screamo but they seem to fit better in this thread.
