both my mom and I own Western Digital Passport 500 gig portable drives. She just keeps pictures and music and I keep movies. She's coming down with her drive and I have movies I want to share with her but she has a mac now, i know how to convert to .mp4's and would recommend vlc player but does anyone think I'll have problems with the change of operating systems and the portable drives? Is it going to be a hassle hooking up the drive?

I think the operating system issue will depend on the harddrive's formating as either FAT32 (Mac compatible?) vs. NTFS (Windows). Not completely sure about this though. I think FAT32 will not allow files bigger than 4GB.

There will not be any issues.

Just plug and go dude. Just install VLC to fix any codec issues and you'll be fine.

Don't worry all operating system can detect hard drive...

I've had issues with transferring files from Win7 to my mac. A lot of files just don't show up in the finder.
