That's not how it works. There are many factors and variables.

Usman vs Masvidal 2 was in Jacksonville. One of the first card with attendance after covid restrictions.
Off course they will lower the price to get people in. It's also Jacksonville.
the highest gates and money is in Las Vegas or New York. You can't ask for prices in Jacksonville especially the first full crowd allowance.
Not so long ago Covington did the lowerst viewers on Espn against Lawler.

Of course I understand the difference.

I wasn't implying that the gate numbers should be compared with a 1:1 ratio, but rather was pointing out the fact that he does sell, and that it's extremely disingenuous to claim that "it was all Masvidal" with UFC 272, which was the point I was arguing against.

Include all the additional variables you want, and still, Covington's last two main events appeared to do really well based on the gate alone. You might not think that Colby doesn't sell, but there's definitely a major narrative going around on Sherdog that no one wants to see him fight, and judging by the numbers, that just doesn't seem to hold water.

Would love to see the actual PPV numbers as the gate doesn't directly correlate with it, but unfortunately they are unavailable.

I agree that he doesn't sell when he's up against somebody that he can't stir up drama against. Lawler, for example, is a nightmare match-up for him in that regard.

This is not an accusation of Colby.
Poirier is the bigger star.
That's why Covington need Poirier and calling him out.
Covington won't call Leon Edwards or Burns out. He can create beef with them and it won't sell.
