Do you think the fight should have been stood up? Two schools of thought here imo.

It was an attempted illegal blow, regardless of landing, it's still illegal and you should lose position.

Or the blow didn't land and was inconsequential, a warning would have sufficed.

Yes and all of Jon Jones eye poke wins should be changed to no contests.

Eddy picked his left arm up to hide it or so it seemed on the replay. Split second decision by the ref but why no warning like people get for eye pokes. It hit the shoulder, I thought it was a weak call but rules are rules.

He should have been warned. Funny how these retard refs dont punish eye pokes but a single downward elbow to the shoulder is somehow something they just CANT ignore, and WILL stand you up from full mount.

Yes and every 12-6 elbow we see to the ribs or legs like every other fight should be stood up. It’s a fucking stupid rule that is selectively enforced by refs who don’t fully know the rules that are employed by athletic commissions that don’t know the rules. The sport will die with judges and refs continuing the way it
Is

YES! We see it all the time and the refs dont care. Such an awful rule that makes literally no sense

It's a shit rule but it's still a rule. Eddie should have known better.

I'm with rogan on this, just let them throw 12-6 elbows. we're not in karate class here.

Another illegal move by Alvarez warranted the stand up, but Eddie wouldn't have done shit to Dustin from that humping the chest position. Dustin was not suitable for titty fucking.

That was the warning. Typically eye pokes doesn’t happen when you’re mounted but rather when you’re already in a neutral position. People are acting like the ref took points.

the rule is dumb but it is a rule....and Goddard enforced it properly..

No. A warning would be enough.

I think Poirier had the comeback in him regardless but we’ll never know.

Yes... if he would have took a point and let him keep mount, then everyone would bitch about the point if it went the distance.

DUmb rule by Eddie was playing dirty before that, grabbed the fence forever during the first guillotine attempt then was grabbing Dustin's ear. He got karma'd.

totally true. bad nut shots and eye pokes are serious fight changers, and guys get just a warning more often than not. it's total bullshit. and yet eddie loses mount over a strike to the shoulder.

How is this even a debate.

12-6 elbows are illegal no matter where they hit.

Somehow the line between facts and opinions is blurrier than ever in this day and age.

Just because Kayrn Bryant said the strike was not illegal does not make it so.

Stood up.
Anytime a fighter with dominate position fouls he should lose the position. If the fighter who has dominate position is fouled the fight should start from when the foul was made.

Are we caring about this now?

Dustin kneed homies eye out the back of his skull.

Eddie got wrecked.
