Political Betting Thread

Being tounge in cheek, but he would have had to get approval from his handlers on whether to accept or not. There no way a small town mayor got as far as he did on his own. This guy has been groomed for years. There is a machine behind this guy and it has been a very successful operation.

His persona is so manufactured i cant help thinking that his biggest fear is that people will find out he is actually straight.

Cant link the tweet, but its confirned the day before he got calls from biden and obama the day before he dropped out.

If it goes to a brokered convention they will shaft bernie. I think they will spring a special vp pick to try and ameliorate for the fallout.

Update - klobuchar out and endorsing biden. Warren will stay to act as spoiler. Corporate dems will not allow a left wing populist to disrupt the gravy train. They dont care about beating trump, just beating bernie. Lol.

Warren wants the vp spot and will make a big play for it. Everyone knows biden will not last long and be nothing more than a figurehead if he does win. So vp will be fought over.

I'm far from a Pete fan, but I don't think it necessarily has to be true that he had some kind of dark machine behind him from the start. Regardless of his political status as a small-city mayor, he's a fresh, young, intelligent, well-spoken veteran who entered a race among a bunch of old career politicians and billionaires. Getting himself booked on some early media appearances was all he needed for the mainstream to latch on and help propel him. He fits a desirable image that no one else had, save for maybe Beto, but he's much better at public speaking than Beto.

I think the point of this is to save themselves whether it's a brokered convention or not. Instead of the convention delegates being something like 45% Bernie 35% Biden 15% Pete etc, they can envision a possibility of something like 45% Biden and 40% Bernie. If THEY can win the plurality, they have an easy case for letting the plurality winner be the nominee, and that prevents the inevitable blowback if they overruled a Bernie plurality. Just remains to be seen if Pete/Amy voters will actually go to Biden, and if that will be enough.

Well, you may be right about Pete, but I going with CIA plant until I find out otherwise. I'm not saying he doesn't have the qualities you pointed out, but some of his background is pretty suss. eg his cache of being a Afghanistan 'vet', is based having a nice safe little desk job there, and fills in a gap in his resume, so he can claim to be qualified as c in c, its all just too perfect for me. Something smells off about him. He is as manufactured as K pop band imo.

Your faith in the DNC despite them repeatedly stabbing you in the heart is touching. Classic abuser abused dynamic. I am sure they hope that Biden will pull off the plurality, but if he doesn't its more than obvious Bernie will get stiffed no matter what. They are just that bad. If Warren drops out then I am wrong. But if she doesn't, then the fix is on.

She staying in the race using superpac money, and she doesn't even know who is funding it.

Lol I definitely have none. I just think they recognize the shitstorm it would cause if they overrule a Bernie plurality victory, not that they won't do it. The best realistic scenario they can hope for is that Biden can actually win the plurality. In that event, Bernie would not have a case for being the winner, and they can declare Biden the candidate in round 2 without much of an uproar. It's much more ideal than having to blatantly shaft Bernie. Pete/Amy dropping out and throwing their support behind Biden can (theoretically) help make this happen.

A Pete, Amy, and Beto endorsement for Biden within a day just before Super Tuesday, looks likes that’s gonna be the opponent barring a majority win by someone.

Looks like the Democratic Illuminati has decided.

Is there value in Biden winning Texas? I dont see Sanders winning there.

I put 0.5u on Biden for texas, he is at plus money and the recent drop outs and endorsements should favour him. Note that they even wheeled out Beto, so they are doing their best to make sure he gets Texas.

Meanwhile, listening to Biden is best way to make the case not to vote for him. How can people seriously vote for the guy? I just cant understand it.

Sanders was way up on the polls in Texas for months, however, Biden got huge spikes yesterday in polling prolly based on Beto, Amy, and Pete.

I’d put Biden the favorite there now. A lot of things have changed since yesterday which is indicated in the polling numbers. I wasn’t anticipating this big of a jump, it’s nuts.

The extreme anti-Bernie efforts over the past couple days are pretty scary for him, but there is a chance it's too little too late. Reports are that most Super Tuesday states have had big early voting numbers, which would favor Bernie through the month of February. Also don't forget the same inevitable vote splitting between Biden and Bloomberg, which may be larger than Sanders and Warren.

The polling that came out today is concerning, but if Sanders pulls the win in California and Texas along with a few others that he should win, he should still end this day on a very nice delegate lead.

Man I thought Bernie might have had it in the bag a few days ago. Well played Democratic Party. But this kind of backroom coordinated bullshit could cost the Democrats long term. Young people have to be getting fed up with their corruption.

disaster for bernie lol, biden is gonna win texas too, will overtake sanders very soon. minnesota/mass were big losses for sanders also, there's going to be a lot of pressure on warren now to pull out.

Brutal night for Bernie, think this is the end barring some major Joe gaffe. The upcoming states are going to be rough for Bernie, especially Florida. Think it’ll be a two person race after tonight and once the Bloomberg moderates shift to Joe, that’s it.

For VP I haven’t seen the odds but it’ll be a minority or women in a battleground state. I think Sinema out of Arizona is a strong bet.

I didnt see him winning in masachussets for sure. I had doubts that bernie would win, so partial hedge with warren. So now lost more.

Get part back with my texas bet though.

So its sleepy joe, the voters have spoken. I think the next few states will be tough for bernie too.

Dnc voters had to coalesce around one of 2 poles, neo liberal or progressive, they chose neo liberal.

The VP slot is the big prize, there will be massive tussle for it behind the scenes. Biden will not last 4 years, if by some misfortune he gets elected.

Warren fucked Sanders (both progressive leftists) and the rest of the Dems pull out after a shitty debate where they all attack Sanders and then endorse Biden.

What a trash party the dems have turned into. Trump was right about what they conspired to do against Bernie.

It will be funny when they shaft warren, she must think she is up for the vp slot, noone likes a snake.

Boomerberg pulls out, can't say im surprised by his complete failure yesterday.

for some reason hilary is 3rd fav to win the nominee, actually shortening from about 50/1 to around 34/1 yesterday lol.

Shush. You're going to scare the hell out of the lemmings on this message board. I've read some of the posts & good grief there are some live ones here still living in a six o'clock news "reality". LOL!

That sounds about right. Biden should win the nomination given the rest of the map and there is a decent chance Biden has a major health scare prior to him being the nomination. The symptoms I’m seeing is slurred speech, loss of memory, and jumbled logic which are symptoms for serious health issues most notably a stroke. In the event of that occurring and Biden is ahead, does the DNC give the nomination to Bernie whose ideals are far different than Biden or does Biden name someone to take his place (similar to what happened with McCain in the Senate).

If Biden appoints, Hilary would be at the top of my list, she is the best moderate with name recognition that has a chance in all the battleground states. There are other options but you need someone good in all of them which is very hard to find.
