I'm having a problem with my hot water in the kitchen sink. Cold water works the hot doesnt. It did this morning and when I came home from work it has stopped. Hot water works on all the rest of the sinks in the house. Can any plumbers shed some insight on what it could potentially be? I thought maybe one of the pipes froze because it is bitterly cold where I reside and I do not have the heat on in the basement, but then the rest of the sinks wouldnt work right? plus cold water still works in kitchen. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Same thing is happening with me right now.

It's probably the insulation of your pipes, call your landlord.

It's -38 here or so today, and last time it was like this a month ago the pipes froze.

Our landlord is a bit of a flake and didn't show up today, so i guess I go 2-3 days without a shower.

Lucky for us we have hot water in the sink, so we can at least be sanitary.

check the valve under the sink, if you havent already. If its open, follow the pipe through the basement looking for another valve.

If you had plumbing done theres a good chance they closed a valve and forgot to open all of them.

Check the stop under the sink, make sure it's open. Could be a frozen pipe but I doubt it because if that was the case both lines would've have frozen and most likely split by now. I think your the hot side on your faucet may be clogged with sediment, have you shut down your hot water recently and turned it back on. That usually causes sediment to kick up in the pipes. Is it a single or double handle faucet?
