Plugs in Octagon?

So i'm watching an old event. Jones vs Texeira and Holloway vs Fili opens up the card.

Joe and Mike start talking about not sticking your fingers in orifices. I'm like huh what? Then Andre Fili comes out and has his ears taped up.

Anyone seen anything else like this? I don't think i've seen or thought about a competitor with plugs.
How do you feel about it? I'm kind of mixed because(i haven't finished watching the fight) but i'm sure just some tape isn't viable to keep those things secure and safe.

Gauges refers to the size, plugs was the term you were looking for.
 
I don't think he taped them with the discs still in, guessing it was just to protect the hole on the off chance a finger got stuck.

In pictures it looks like Andre has at least 0 gauges, so a finger could get lodged in there, but I doubt it'd be common occurrence.

Way to make a comparison that's completely ridiculous. Isis beheading vid is in the torn earlobe's catagory? C'mon brah.
 
I have had a couple of training partners with plugs, and unless their lobes are stretched to the max (they were not) it's not a big deal to grapple with them when they remove it and put some tape over it .
Plus they are my juniors so I can afford to be careful and avoid touching the lobes.

But after a certain point it gets problematic I'd imagine.

I know a guy (friend of a friend kinda guy) who had, among other pieces, a nice stretched piercing, a small plate on top of his his upper lip.
He got sucker punched in a pub right on the mouth, the lip was ripped and one lump of flesh was sagging on the side , shit was brutal ><
But he got it stitched up and now a few years later it doesn't look too bad.

Bodymods and MA don't mix well, even tattoos fade quicker will all that rolling around. You need to have your tats re-inked after a few years if you want them to look fresh, and to take special care with them.

Luckily I've always been more of a tattoo guy than a piercing one... that way I don't have to choose between one of my passions.
And I would be paranoid with stretched lobes, but I do kinda miss my industrial piercing though.
 
I've seen Fili do that in a couple of fights and I feel like one other guy tapes up like that too but can't remember who.
