Please help me understand why the UFC wants to see their biggest draw lose again.

Neither do I, but I guess its just liberal ignorance right?

they are selling the UFC, last payday for everyone involved. The PPV will sell and boost the valuation of the UFC

Dana's got wood for numbers these days. Ever since Conor got on board, he's not even thinking long-term. He's just thinking what will break the last biggest event's numbers.

I believe Conor is the first guy to challenge for a title while already holding one. If you haven't figured it out by now, he is making the calls. Conor gets what Conor wants.

The only thing I can think of is they don't think he can stay champion at FW and that the holes in his game have been exposed and they want to do one last big money grab before he loses his drawing power. I don't think it's a good idea, I think if they want to give him the most winnable fight he should rematch Aldo to see if he can rebound from the loss to Nate.

You think Dana is telling Conor what to do??

How do you forget about BJ Penn and Dan Henderson?

Wishfull thinking, they think Conor will win the next time around, but they are not helping themselves booking it at 170 again.

Who said it's going to be at 170? It seems like it would be at 155.

Not fully. But you got to be crazy if you think he's telling the UFC what to do. They ultimately still have the final say-so. Just because Conor says he is on equal grounds as them, they're still his boss. After he lost his last fight, doubt he has as much pull as before. So Dana may play with all this when Conor's saying he tells them what's up, but behind the scenes....

strike while the irons hot. Conor loses again and he "just" the FW champ who could probably lose his title next fight, if Conor wins, he probably then gets his LW shot and the chance for two belts. PPV money goes crazy

If he loses that devalues his future earning potential as a draw. This would be factored in to the pricing by anyone with any semblance of business sense when formulate the worth of the UFC.

But the reason why the UFC would want McGregor to lose is that he's demanding too much money for their liking, and if he continues to win it gives him more leverage and negotiating power against the UFC. Also, what he makes could influence how much other fighters could make and cause their pay to rise as well. Losing will lower his bargaining power against the UFC and keep the balance of power at the negotiating table in the hands of the Shareholders of the UFC.

I think a lot of this has to do with Conor realizing he's not making 145 in time for UFC 200.

If this is true and we are getting a rematch nobody is really asking for...then the UFC is simply doing this to save face for Conor....if Conor beats Nate somehow...then we will get the same ol' brash, loud, notorious mystic mac Conor Mcgregor who everyone loves or hates and will pay to watch him fight. Conor can't go around talking his usual shit because it got pushed in by Nate Diaz...the UFC needs Conor's aura and hype back in order to maximize profits.
