Have any of you played poker at a casino?I’ve always liked watching high stakes poker and recently started playing online but not for real money. Other then that I had only played poker a few times with friends but that was years ago and only for nickels and dimes. I’m going to Vegas in a couple months and the friend I’m going with plays a lot of poker. This Friday I went to a local casino and really played poker for the first time. It’s such a different experience playing with real money. It was an 8/16 table, I wanted to play at a smaller bet table bring my first time but we could both get on this one so I went for it. 2 hours later I’m out 300 bucks but it was fun. I would do it again but at a lower bet table until I get better.
I’ve played a good amount of craps, roulette, and blackjack done well done days, not do well others. But it’s a different experience playing against other people for money as opposed to “together “ with craps and blackjack.
Do any of you play a lot of poker? If so have you done well at casinos? Have any cool stories?
My best story isn’t playing poker but last time I was in Vegas I was playing roulette at NY NY. After an hour of getting ahead, coming back down I was back to $97 from starting with $100. I got a $100 dollar chip and put it on 23. It was the only bet on the table and it hit. So I took my buddy to spearmint rhinos and spent 600 on him and I don’t even know on me. But it was a great night.

The only way I play is live games
Usually play 6/12 or 12/24 limit or 2/5 no limit
Fuck playing on a computer where you cant get a sense of the people youre playing against, I need that human interaction to play the game properly
Live tournaments are another great way to get experience, most casinos and card rooms have daily tournaments with relatively small buy ins, you may wanna look into that
Most I ever won in a live game was about 5 grand, most I ever lost was about 1500, usually win more than I lose though
Best tournament cash was 3000 on a 100 dollar buy in

Watch out, you're easy pickens for the sharks out there with that mentality.

Lol limited hold em

Play no limit my man. Ur gonna lose anyway. At least give urself a chance and have some fun.

Then try tournaments. If you’re going to Vegas in a couple months ur in tournament Mecca.

That’s why I want to play at the lower raise tables until I cut my teeth. I went in on Friday knowing I was basically an atm for the good players unless I was lucky.

Have fun, and hopefully your friends isn't enabling you to be a hotshot. He should be looking out for ya.

He’s giving me lots of tips. I was being way to aggressive playing hands I shouldn’t have. But that’s part of learning.

Tournaments only for me. Brilliant fun and a great way to have a laugh with randoms.

I'm not baller enough to play the cash tables.

Key imo with live poker is confidence. So much bluffing goes on its frightening.

How much are the buy ins normally?

1/2 and 2/5 NL...

Regulars will smell noobs out in a few minutes if you are new to casino poker.

My suggestion would be to play tight and aggressive and observe for as long as possible till you get comfortable.

Start out with 3/6 limit bro. Don't listen to these assclowns about going all out.

Remember above all the key to poker is patience. Even if you think you might have a good hand watch the bets and try to get a read. Play your flop, play yourself, don't try to get creative with the other players yet when your just starting out. Play the flop don't try to hope for the turn or river.

That's me at 3/5 no limit in my av. Trust me on what I said

If your gonna go for the turn or river do so only on flush or straight draws. As you gain more experience you will be able to bluff and do all that crazy shit you see them try on wsop

Also pocket aces is not the end all be all. Don't immediately go all in. Draw them in with small to mid-range bets. Because they might turn out to be a pair of nothing's. Happens to me all the time

I lost with pockets queens twice. Won with Queen, jack unsuited with a jack on the flop and the river. Pocket queens was my best hand. I didn’t play great but I also was getting no flops.

I go to vegaas once or twice a year and seem to get streaky with games. I've been into three card poker recently.

When the wife and friends go shopping in vegas, I'll sometimes join a poker game.
