Bros been wrestling since 4, and doing boxing and pankration since elementary school but gets knocked out by Lerone Murphy who started MMA in his late teens.

I've always been a little uncomfortable with these soccer mom type parents really pushing their kids too much into combat sports (treating it like their life/career instead of a hobby).

You can't tell if someone has the natural traits like knockout power and dawg in them until at least puberty. It's not like soccer, basketball etc. This is the hurt game.
 
Ummmmmm if you seen him Pico is legit hes got everything and should be a champ by now. Noone at FW right now is more skilled maybe Volk was but hes on slide. Pico issue is he doesnt think in cage and makes the dumbest mistakes every big moment.

On skill/talent only a handful are better in UFC literally maybe 5-6. In terms of IQ in cage I dont know anyone worse. Hes that bad in terms of IQ. Sad to see that skill n talent wasted.

Yeah, PIco's issues in MMA are that he doesn't have knockout power and doesn't have "that dawg in him."

the new age michael chandler. literally the two worst fight IQs in the game.
 
I've said this for awhile, especially when the "A level athlete" argument was going strong. You can be the most talented athlete in the world, but it doesn't mean you're going to be a great fighter. There's intangibles in fighting that have nothing to do with athleticism. Durability, heart, will, chin, fight IQ, etc. Athleticism and technique are a big part of it, but to reach the peak, there's a lot more required.

i don't know about that, the dude has zero defensive skills. he always fights like the other guy can't hurt him. that's all good if you're Roy Nelson, but he's clearly more on the Cody Garbrandt side of the official scientific sherdog chin chart.

I said "like". There's more intangibles to fighting than any other sport.

Chris Eubank said it best, it's not really a sport, it's gladiatoring.

Yes I agree the current FW champion isn't as good as the goober that just got knocked out by a decision machine.......

Are you for real? Pico got caught, and Lerone got lucky.

Small setback for Pico but that kid has skills and you can see it, if you can't you're blind. Fight enough times and you'll lose sooner or later. If Pico can shrug this off, I still think I watched a future champ in the making.

It's pretty irresponsible making fighting your kid's life goal before they show that they have the edge to get to the top.

People will try to use Brock as an example of someone that didn't like to get hit etc but Brock Lesnar by the time he fought Hunt had a great knack for avoiding strikes almost like Khabib, and he picked up on the ground game incredibly fast. He was far from just an LNP guy, annihilated Mir on the ground 2 years into his career, and he had an outstanding chin (actual ability to take shots) at HW.

Pico's had a terrible career so far for someone who was hyped for his elite athletic talent.

Kind of like Bo as well. The guy doesn't like getting hit.
