I just wanted to gauge people's excitement for certain fights on the prelims of the next 3 up coming cards (UFC Ottawa:RDA vs Alvarez:TUF Finale)

With so many cards coming at us these next 2 months there's plenty of fights to dissect and predict.

Here's the top 3 I came up with:

Tamdan McCory vs Kryzstof Jotko
(UFC Ottawa)

Really looking forward to the Barn Cats 2nd stint in the ufc, his mini retirement gave him plenty of time to refine his tools to go with his already good size and reach for the division. His rise should be slow and steady and Jotko is the right guy for him to showcase his potential. Jotko always struck me as a guy who was a jack of all trades but master of none. His cardio seems to be a problem and I see Tamdan wearing him down to a UD

Mike Pyle vs Alberto Mina
(UFC FN: RDA vs Alvarez)

Probably my favorite prelim fight these next few events, any chance to see Mike Pyle do his thing is pretty sweet. Win or lose the crafty vet will come in with good game planning looking to outwit and outfight Mina. Although I'm a big Pyle fan this is a toss up fight against a dangerous BJJ practitioner who also has similar size and length. I'm hoping for a good back and forth tactical scrap with Pyle winning by decision

John Moraga vs Matheus Nicolau
(TUF Finale)

This is one of the more interesting flyweight fights pitting a perennial contender against TUF Brazil flyweight winner looking to rise up the ranks fast.
Moraga has proven to us he can beat most in the division, I really only see Dodson and JoeB handling him but Moraga is a live dog against many others. Nicolau seems to being thrown at Moraga as a rebound but I wouldn't overlook the kid. During TUF and at the finale he's delivered in every fight. His kicking attack is pretty sweet to see and he has a pretty diverse ground game (scored a Japanese necktie) at the finale. I expect a good match from both but I see Moraga taking the kid to deep waters and finishes him inside 2 rounds

Great thread idea ts.

Ufc 89
Elias Theodorou v Sam Alvey. Theodorou on paper imo is the better fighter, he's more technical, has decent kicks and was even giving his last opponent problems before he gassed out and got near enough bludgeoed on the ground. However all it takes is 1 punch from Alvey and it's all done. I've been wanting this fight since Alvey called him out. I'd love to see Alvey knock that pretty face out.

Alvarez v Don Anjos
John Makdessi v Medhi Bagdad....can't remember Bagdad's debut but Makdessi is always fun to watch, has a killer jab that stopped Cruickshank and Stout from employing their usual kick your head off/lets brawl strategies and he's surprised me with a couple nasty finishes.

Tuf finale
Cezar Farreira v Anthony Smith
Cezar surprised me in his last fight. He weathered an early storm and went onto win and nearly subbed him I recall correctly. He's defo a dangerous guy on the ground and it seems Anthony's problem is on the ground. I get that Smith's worked on his ground game but I could see Cezar winning this once Smith starts gassing out.
Smith on the other hand seems like a technical brawler to me. His return fight in the ufc was very entertaining and he shows a lethal thai clinch game and I can see Cezar getting ko'd if Smith starts landing them. I reckon Smith wins but I can't wait for this fight.

Also i'm not much of a writer so be nice

I can't really tell what's on the prelims and what's not for the two July cards, but there aren't a whole lot of fights that jump out at me. I'd say the Alvey or Covington fight for the Ottawa card.

It was a good read dude don't be sorry, those are three really interesting fights good stuff.
Yeah man pretty good write up, you gave good insight. Don't trip man you'll find your style of writing then posting comes natural. Just keep at it bro !

For me Theodorou vs Alvey is going to be a great fight coming up I agree with @Socialhandgrenade assessment of this fight, although Elias has the better skill set Alvey's power will make this fight interesting. I'm looking forward to this fight I think it will be a good one.

I am not sure if it is a prelim fight or not but I am really looking forward to Clarke vs Duffy, it's a good rebound fight for Duffy. Clarke had a sneaky sub over Iaquinta, Duffy will have to watch out for those subs. I think this will be a good fight.

Finally, I like this Jake Matthews dude, it will be nice to see him serve Kevin Lee some humble pie.

Bagautinov vs Herrera
Matthews vs Lee
Soto vs Beal

Yup i'm hoping Alvey catches him, although i'm a bit worried that other fighters will start taking the Derek Brunson approach with Alvey. It sucked as an Alvey fan but I loves me some Brunson too so can't complain.

Yeah Clarke is definitely underrated. It certainly makes the fight more interesting if it hits the mat although Duffy seems to have a decent sub game himself.

And I totally missed the Matthews Lee fight when I was looking the events up. I have real high hopes for Matthews and I think his loss to Vick was a good thing as he's probably polished some holes in his game. Also he was looking bad against Areola but I think he needed that first round to come back and beast him with ground n pound to really realise he's in a proper fight. I hope he subs Lee. I've nothing against Lee myself, I think he got humbled after his ko loss.
The next 4 (including 200) events are looking shit hot. I'm also delighted to see the matchmakers are saying "fuck the other contestants" and are actually making a great tuf card for the first time in ages.

Soto vs Beal

This fights do or die for both guys. Soto's had a harsh run in the ufc and i'm glad they've given him a chance for saving the championship fight with Barao dropping out but I just don't see him beating Beal. Beal's on a 2 loss streak but he's too tricky

As others have said, Theodorou vs Alvey should be fun.

Mike Pyle vs Alberto Mina. Pyle is almost always fun to watch fight, and against a 12-0 prospect? Should be decent.

Li vs Zafir. Li is usually fun to watch, and Zafir is another big prospect. Loser may leave the promotion, so I hope for a good, hard fought one here.

Well this TUF finale doesn't look that strong to me if you compare it to the McG/Faber season, that finale had a banging main card with Frankie/Mendes at the top.

This is a pretty good card though not denouncing it at all. Can't wait

Frankie v Chad, Lauzon v Dunham and Barboza v Barboza were great fights.

Nice to see Dunham finally back on a little streak although I was hoping Lauzon was gonna sub him. I do prefer the upcoming tuf card but I do agree that the McGregor Faber finale was pretty badass

I thought Alvey/Elias and Tamdan/Jotko were guaranteed main card fights. UFN is usually a 6-fight main card, no, when in North America?

And Pyle/Mina might creep onto UFN 90's main card too.

All 3 for me would be from the Canadian card next week.

McCrory vs. Jotko
Cirkunov vs. Cutelaba
Bagautdinov vs. Herrera

James Krause vs Ross Pearson at the TUF finale is a great fucking fight. Can't wait for that. Think it's July 8.
