[PIC] Gunnar Nelson huge improvements

He mentions pre fight with Tumenov that him and Conor have a new strength and conditioning program. He's pretty vague with the description but he says he does a 3 days on 1 day off program that works on building anaerobic fitness. He says it's worked well for them as it's a short workout and doesn't take a lot out of them during fight camp.

Found this on twitter, I posted after the weigh in he looked much improved, seems like he has taken his training seriously.

One pic he has arms raised
The other he doesn't

This is illogical comparison

He looked like crap against Maia, think the before is taken with Maia but may be wrong.
If your name is not Jake Shields (Or maybe Rousimar Palhares) and fight at WW, You are going look like crap if you go to the ground with Demian Maia.

In one pic he has long hair, the other a buzz cut. In one pic hes raising his arms, the other hes not. When you raise your arms up your pecs flatten out because theyre being stretched making them look much smaller. If there is any difference were talking about minutia.

yup he clearly put on weight, i noticed it too, looked a lot bigger than before.

Gunnar has come in soft a few times before.

There are two main reasons: first is that he is very small for 170, barely needs to cut 5lbs. So doesn't have the same motivation to be lean like most guys.

Second reason is that the SBG camp have never been big into beach muscle training. None of those guys - Gunnar, Conor, Paddy, Pendred etc - none of them have ever looked like bodybuilders the way a lot of Americans and Brazilians do.

He was leaner in his last fight but he was not 'huge' by any measure.

Overrated fighter

It's hilarious that everyone has jumped back on the bandwagon because he beat someone who I can't even name and everyone is acting like he beat gsp

Main problem in his losses is that he looked physically puny. Not a problem when up against guys that are hopeless on the mat. Big problem against bruisers like Storey and Maia. Maia lest we forget is a very large and powerful WW.

Always thought that Nelsons adherence to fighting 'light' was a big problem so glad that he's addressing it.

Time for you bums to start playing touch butt in the park.

Hmmmm. OT on a good bit of muscle and full head of hair started thinking quickly....

Pics are pretty bad to compare, two complete different poses. That said he looked a bit muscular.. agreed.

I agree. He is still pretty small by welterweight measures but at least now he looks like making lightweight MAY be a struggle. Before it looked like a lightweight competing in welterweight.

Thanks for the video, he does go into some detail there about it, but bit cagey. Obviously trying to protect some secrets.
