Philippines: people salvage, recook & sell old meat from rubbish dumps

Hi everyone,

I just came across this article on BBC about a Filipino dish called "pag pag". It's made from discarded meat taken from rubbish dumps.

People pick out unfinished pieces of chicken and burgers etc, as well as expired meat which has been thrown out by supermarkets. They sell it to the food stall who wash it and cook it, then sell it, served with rice.

My wife's family are all pretty wealthy ppl but she's from Jakarta, which like Manilla has millions of people in poverty, living very sad lives. You see it every day when you are there so I guess this story got to her.
