PFL Signs Former Glory Kickboxing Champion Cedric Doumbe

Not the most sensible decision imo. He's not very experienced so he's throwing himself to the wolves a bit if he enters the tournament.

Thought for sure it would be Bellator. They have alot of events in Europe and would build him slow. You dont think he'd be part of like this UK series shit they are doing with tournaments there? He was saying PFL offers most money if you can win tournament but yeah I agree he probably aint doing that.

The Europe tourneys are 100k for winning, I figure he'd be after more than that.

Thought it was 250k? I agree but being over there, using his name, easier competition maybe he gets more experience and then comes to bigger tournament but its probably not worth it for him.

The UFC WW roster is really hardcore, though. I don't know PFL much, who is really tough at 170?

Used to be 250K got changed quietly to 100

I don’t enjoy watching PFL but I assume they gave him a ton of money, so good on him. Don’t think he has much success against the likes of Umalatov, Cooper, Magomedkerimov, etc.

Ray Cooper III, Magomed Umalatov, Magomed Magomedkerimov, Carlos Leal.

Ironically he probably actually matches up really well with current champ Sadibou Sy.

The issue with PFL is if you're in the tournament then you have to fight the best guys that year whereas in the UFC they can match him up with Blood Diamond or someone to start with.

Im assuming he will get a couple of showcase fights before fighting anyone legit.

probably two fights this year if healthy since tournament is going on so you put him on a PPV whenver they do one vs a jobber to look great against then maybe one at end of year.

Agreed. Just because he's in PFL doesn't mean he'll be in the tournament. Shields never fought in a tourney when she came over from boxing.

He's fighting June 23rd in Atlanta, no opponent announced yet.

I heard Abdoul Abdouraguimol coach talk about what PFL offered him, and it was a 6 figures per fight type of pay, way way more than what the UFC would offer.
Must be similar for Doumbe, or more because he is a big name.

With Doumbe now, and likely Ngannou soon, that's some big signings if they want to make a card in France.

Lazy King actually turned that down lol.

Lazy King actually turned that down lol.

Lazy King is on mission, this guy wants all the heat and I think he doesn't give a fuck about money.

That aside, 20+20k for Doumbe in the UFC is an insult.
The guy is already a name, a KO artist, a big entertainer who promote his fights and a fucking generational talent in kickboxing. Their offer was laughable.

Guessing the UFC low balled him because many of the top WW are pretty well rounded with good wrestling. No doubt Doumbe can hang with just about anyone on the feet but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he has any take down defense at all.

Though based on his kickboxing creds. the UFC should've offered a better deal than 20/20K. Maybe 40K/40k first fight and escalate after that based on winning by like to 15K a fight on like a 4 fight deal.
