PFL scored a jackpot with Francis Ngannou

Relax, the guy is 37 years old, nobody's starting a promotion to build around him. He got the best possible deal from PFL where he basically used them as a backstop and could still get paid to crush cans with nobody watching if the boxing negotiations fell through, and since he did get a fight with Fury, he probably isn't going to fight for them at all. He'll probably only fight for them at all if he gets smoked in another boxing bout, and even then he'll make his debut at 38 with no opponents that anybody's heard of.
And before you make your stupid wanna be smart rebuttal. I'll point everyone to your war room posts where every minority is in the wrong according to your posts. POS

Low IQ take.

The problem with competing with the UFC has always been that most fans never follow fighters when they leave the UFC. Fedor was never a big enough name to build around either.

Every MMA fan will follow Francis going forward.

The Saudis have a chance, they are way worse people than the guys the UFC was built on.

One dimensional? Did we not watch him turn D1 Wrestling when he knew he couldnt plant and land power against Gane? Try again noob.

A bigger, stronger Francis outgrappled a kickboxer with no wrestling background and 10 career pro fights to squeak out a decision win...

Compare that to when Jon Jones went D1 on Gane...

Francis is a one dimensional fighter and only has wins over guys with 10 fights or guys past their prime/approaching 40.

Outside of the UFC is where he needs to be if he plans on doing MMA into his 38-40 years or he'll get demolished, even in the paltry heavyweight division.

Well I hope you apply this same logic to Khabib. He fought zero wrestlers with exception of Tibau(who wasnt a wrestler, and should have won). And all strikers who had a pension for wilting under pressure.

They sure did. You'd have to be a fucking idiot to let him slip through your fingers. A, short-sighted, petty, unstable, vengeful, self-important, narcissistic, balding, wife-beating, pink idio-- oh.

I think it's more complicated. It's about the UFC brand not wanting to devalue itself allowing its fighters to box

I do think the PFL need to make sure they bring though new HW talent ASAP though, Francis probably only has 3-4 years left max I'd guess before he starts to drop off, maybe less and they need to make sure the torch can be passed to credible HW's.

The guy is 37 at heavyweight. He could still have another 5 - 6 good years in him. The landscape of fighting can change drastically between now and December of next year. I wouldn't be so sure he's going to fight a nobody or only go back if he gets smoked in boxing.

Also, Francis (and many in the community) have already pointed out that Francis' entrance into the PFL wasn't just to be their greatest fighter but to be a face for the organization and a voice for the rights of fighters. PFL Africa and Ngannou representing the fighters is probably the most important part of the deal that is constantly overlooked. If Francis can carry this boxing momentum in the right direction, he can take his negotiating power and support from Saudi Arabia to really begin putting together some significant events. That may not be him fighting a mass appeal HVWY title fight, but there are many possibilities of where Franic and the PFL can take the market.

it's too early to tell, but Ngannou obviously a huge step up in the game. The boxing match against Fury helped out so much. The president guy, Donn Davis I think, he seems very legit, had a great interview with Helwani, and said all of the right things, displayed the correct attitude, and seems to have his pulse on the consensus of the fans, hardcore fans. As long as they keep the right matchups going, they will continue their success. THe no nonsense answers fromm Don Davis was refreshing, I think they can go far.

Got a link to this? Would be interested to check out the interview.

Given his age and extreme hunger, I believe he's peaked and has max 2 years of trying to make money. Just my thoughts though, but you arent far off 41 is a bit rough in combat sports. Unless you're

I, for one, welcome our new PFL overlords.

Yeah I wouldnt be supprised, I suspect starting late and having relative low milage has helped him last well but he's probably in the end game of his career now.

If I was the PFL I would try going after some HW kickboxers personally, people like Rico.

I assume you are talking about Verhoeven. But he has had some wars and brutal losses(even the decisions). But maybe some promising up and comers. Or he can pull an Adesanya and dominate before everyone catches up to him.

It really doesn’t matter because the UFC will end up buying PFL and dismantling it at some point.

Everyone outside of the UFC are not "cans". You're the most condescending poster for black fighters. Just watch toughman in the south. You worthless sack.
<Dany07>

If you don't watch PFL, you're a racist!. Lol, they should hire you for their marketing team, you complete loser.

Thanks for the laugh. Without looking it up, how many people on this MMA forum could name the PFL champs or tell you when the next event is, or even their last one?

While the childlike enthusiasm is entertaining, nobody cares about Francis Ngannou vs whoever the PFL champ is, and it's pretty stupid to pretend he can even carry a single event by himself, let alone an entire promotion. He needs a big name opponent for people to watch his own fights, and PFL don't have any.

It's in the interest of the PFL for Francis to win.
By finish.
In under two minutes.
