PFL, Professional Fighters League, MMA, betting thread 🦸‍♂️

Give me Paul Hughes +150 against AJ maybe even KO sprinkle. He is def the better striker IMO and I don't know if AJ will have much success trying to get it to the mat.

Both guys with insane cardio.

Wrong thread, oops. Meant for DWCS.

They believe Ngannou coming off KO loss will be more cautious and have less confidence

Ngannou is 38, Fereira is 34. They think Ngannou is getting old even for HW

Ngannou striking looked bad against Gane - his last MMA fight

Ngannou is fighting someone who’s bigger than him in MMA

Ngannou has tragic events in his family which will hurt him mentally

Ngannou will more than likely wrestle

Ngannou coming off a brutal boxing KO and 3 knockdowns, training boxing for years, 38. Ripe for fading above +200 imo

Ferreira can bop

McKee is my favorite play for this card. I get that Hughes is CW's top prospect but this is the definition of too much too soon. He's not going to shock AJ with anything, and I'm not sure he's going to be able to hang on the mat when it gets there.

Going from Bobby King to an elite fighter is quite the jump.

Tbf he's fought better fighters than King in Vucenic and Charriere.

I do favour AJ though.

Love those two but AJ would beat them both even if he were a quadriplegic.

It's weird how PFL matches some of their big signings. Abdouragimov is stuck fighting journeymen or cans, Hughes gets a journeyman and then the #2 LW in PFLator, Doumbe gets matched up with Baki who seemed like a terrible matchup on paper, etc.

And that's without talking about the seasonal matches.

Wouldn't the fact Ngannou's been training boxing for years increase his chances of winning?

Ferreira doesn't wrestle so why does it matter, and Francis' hands should now be sharper than ever

Not really, his easiest path to victory is wrestling.

Also when you're focusing on boxing you change your stance because you don't have to worry about kicks or wrestling, you spar using only big gloves, you drill taking punches on the gloves etc.

Nah, you're over thinking it.

His hands have levelled up, that's all that matters.

Stance, big gloves is just broscience cringe that stops people from being +EV bettors.

He went 16-3 and won a UFC title only using hands and never wrestling.

I'm not betting him though

He had a staring contest with Black Beast because he respected his power and neither wanted to exchange. He laid on Gane for the win because he didn't want to deal with Gane's movement and striking skills. Why would you assume he wouldn't potentially try to do the same with a guy who clearly hurts everyone he hits clean, and who's the first guy Ngannou has faced that's clearly bigger than he is?

Wrestle fucked Gane from memory
Yeah, but he went 16-3 with his hands being his only win condition, and he was priced -300 against more qualified guys than Ferreira.

The best point of Alistair Overeem's MMA career was when he was switching back and forth between MMA and kickboxing.

Big gloves is just trying to find a reason to bet something like Stat Collector

He was 17-3 after the Gane fight, you're not getting it

Yes we are. Against guys he felt he could overwhelm striking (which was most guys) he would let his hands go and hunt KO's. He was worried about Black Beast's power, so stood there and stared at him. He realized Gane posed problems with his movement so decided to take that away with wrestling. Also (most people have forgotten this), Francis actually shot a TD and got it vs Stipe when he won the belt. So vs Gane was NOT the first time we saw him wrestle at all.

You're also ignoring that his last time in competition, he was FLATLINED. Like, not finished by TKO or something. Put. To. Sleep. If you think that doesn't matter...you're nuts. He's 37 years old going against a guy who destroys what he hits but who has shown his grappling is a work in progress. To think Ngannou wouldn't try to wrestle (if he gets the chance) seems ridiculous.

IMO the line is WAY too wide and Fereira has a great chance to KO him. But anyone paying the juice on Ngannou absolutely should hope he wrestles.
