News PFL now owns Bellator - report

PFeLlator will be the new Gold Standard in MMA going forward
UFC death wails will be imminent

UFC should snatch up the ring girls tho

On February 1, 2023, Bellator announced that they had signed a two-year contract with Globo to broadcast Bellator events in Brazil, after years of broadcasting through ESPN. A few weeks later on February 22, 2023, the promotion announced that they had signed a multi-year extension with the BBC.

But I wonder if that contract could be amended. Not sure how much recognition Bellator has as a brand with casuals. I would rather see them merge under PFL, discontinue the Bellator name, and relaunch with a massive PPV with Ngannou, Jake Paul, Claressa Shields, etc.

Might as well just assimilate it and get rid of one of the brands.

PFL seemz to have a fook load of money to throw around & doesn't mind losing some of it in the meantime, so they could become a force to be reckoned with if they start offering more money to top fighters from teh UFC.

Once they establish themselves with top fighters, then they "might" be able to make a decent showing, but will always likely be in teh shadow of teh UFC. Perhaps Endeavor will sell teh UFC to them.

Back in teh day, Dana said they didn't really care about buying teh UFC's roster. They paid 2 mill (or whatever it was) for teh name alone.

Nemkov-Ngannou
<{jackyeah}>

With Nemkov moving from up to HW supposedly, that’s one I’d like to see.
Better matchup than I can think of. Ngannou is just so damn powerful. He can only fight so many guys.

Where will they broadcast in the US now that Viacom is out on any non-NFL and NCAA related sport?

Al's a reliable guy. Possibly Donn Davis might officially announce it on the MMA hour today.

So PFL runs Bellator as Bellator for two years while slowly integrating their roster into theirs where possible.

I'd like to think this could create some genuine competition but PFL has been awful to this point. Maybe they'll improve.

They kinda took what was good about Bellator(tournament format) and made it work with lesser names.

If they advertised better in my country I would watch them more. I always have to catch a replay.

Similar with One who also put on exciting events.

I still watch the UFC more than both, but I usually just have it on my TV or computer and go about my day. Gone are the days of actually watching a UFC PPV like it's an event unless it's a big enough card.

Doesn't sound like it was announced.. and based on what was said in the interview, he wouldn't want it to continue for multiple years and was just interested in the fighters.

PFL cards are generally pretty shit tbf. I've watched every show they've ever done and unfortunately there's only ever been about ten good fights.

Also the pacing and commentary is fucking terrible.

They've got a lot of shit they need to fix.

I usually fast forward through all that to be fair or catch highlights.

I could say the same about quite a few UFC PPVs recently. The Abu dhabi card was a shit show and people paid top dollar for it. The only thing that saved it from being the worse card of the year was being live to see Islam KO Volk.

I think it's just an issue with MMA currently. They kinda can't decide what they want to be in any of the orgs.
It will be good to get Big John off the mic though. It's definitely not his strength over their in Bellator. Josh Thompson does alright though.

For a decade now I've just always wanted Bellator to be a little bit better than they really are. So I have that short term jolt of hope upon hearing this, followed by the grim feeling that Bellator will always be the third best MMA org, even if they were the only MMA org.
