Artem Lobov and Zubaira Tukhugov will have to settle their score another time.

Professional Fighters League on Tuesday announced that Lobov suffered an injury in training and has been forced out of a proposed catchweight clash against Tukhughov at PFL Champions Series 3 on Friday.

Lobov revealed the nature of his injury in a post on Instagram.

“Last night I went training … I knew the fight was going to be a lot of grappling, a lot of takedown defense, so we decided to grapple…I wanted to give it a hard push,” Lobov said in a video.“It was going really good. We just had an accidental head clash. As soon as that happened, I could see blood everywhere. … As soon I got to the room I contacted PFL, they got the doctor. As soon as the doctor came in, he saw the cut, he said there’s no way you can fight. The cut was very deep…. It’s probably due to the fact that I have a lot of scar tissue on my face from my time at [BKFC] and all the fights I’ve had over the years. For me personally, I’ve never pulled out of a fight — I’ve fought with every kind of injury possible. … The doctor said, no way. I cannot fight. He cannot clear me to fight, so the fight had to be pulled.”

Lobov, Tukhugov Had History

Lobov ended a four-year retirement to accept the booking againstTukhugov. The rivalry between the two men dates back to a confrontation between Lobov and KhabibNurmagomedov’s team — which included Tukhugov — that occurredat a fighter hotel prior to UFC 223 in 2018. That incidenteventually led to the now-infamous incident where ConorMcGregor traveled to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to attacka charter bus carrying Nurmagomedov in defense of his SBG Irelandteammate.
