PBP PFL Champions Series 2: Nurmagomedov vs. Hughes 2 ***Sherdog Discussion*** 10/3 11:30AM ET

Hughes should have trained for the KO. He's never winning a dec in Dubai.

To be fair Hughes wouldn't have won the decision almost anywhere, he didn't win 3 rounds in anywhere close to definitive fashion.

No sense getting too upset with the 50-45...the right guy won the fight, which is ultimately what matters.

No one's record, reputation, or pay day is adversely affected by that one scorecard, so the point is essentially moot.

Solid fight, btw...one of the few compelling matchups in PFL that would easily belong on any UFC PPV main card.

50-45 seems egregious for how close that fight was but when you break it down, I don’t think Hughes 100% won any round. You could definitely give round 2 and/or 3 to him, but I didn’t think it was egregious to not. Competitive fight where I think we got the right winner, scorecards seem a little harsh for what we saw though.

People are focusing on the 50-45 but Usman getting away with 5 fouls is even worse.

Low blows were fault of Hughes.

The "headbutt" is something we've seen all the time before. Fighters literally go forehead to forehead all the time, this was no different.

Why? Usman landed a last second TD and did nothing with it. Hughes landed better shots that round.
Usman landed the better shots that round, I was suprised by Hughes lack of activity in the first half of the round.

Usman never did anything with TDs, actually was stunned a few times (not saying he was in trouble tho) but Hughes definitely landed the bigger strikes. I wouldn’t call it a robbery because Hughes should have done more but 50-45? Cmon.

I think he's becoming the P4P #1 foul merchant among the top fighters now. Last fight he committed a ton of fouls too and the ref actually did his job and took a point last time. It was Beltran, so they probably made sure he wouldn't do that again. Refs not doing their job and giving 100 warnings might be the biggest issue with MMA right now.
